  3. Happy new year! I will be running the one day 'train and test' H licence days again this year. This is, as always, driving one of the latest road legal diesel CVRT's on the road. It's a full day-training am, with further driver training and DVSA Cat H driving in the afternoon. Please PM me for more details. Terry
  4. Thanks guys, speaking to the vendor, it does appear to be the lengths of punched steel planks, with rows of holes, and hooks/eyes down either side. Quite a bit of weight so might be worth something in scrap.
  5. been offered some of this, described as ex army without any pics-any idea what it is?
  6. Have you seen this one,,,,,,, http://izismile.com/2012/02/14/handcrafted_tiger_i_tank_replica_69_pics_1_video.html wish my metalworking skills were that good!
  7. Ok, a few years ago this was great news for our hobby, a bit of a laugh, and no negative publicity.Times have changed dramatically, everyone's gone 'PC' and what we used to do for fun is easily misconstrued by the press and plod. We are extremely fortunate in this country to still be able to possess and drive on the road armoured vehicles, and it wouldn't take much of an incident for a very small minority (us) to be banned......... Terry
  8. I 'lost' a chieftain some years ago, and this may be related-does anyone know of it? pm please would be appreciated thank you
  9. Agreed!-doesn't take a genius to work out who they came from and who they're going to. Terry
  10. This has happened on several of the CVRTs I have in storage here. It is usually surface rust on the steering disc. A short run with plenty of steering normally cures it! Terry
  11. there's lots of widely varying weights quoted on the net, but has anyone actually weighed one for an accurate weight? thanks guys Terry
  12. Thanks Clive, there's only the one CAV plate which reads; type 37B24-7X despatch no.1200071 clock 24 high ser VS137
  13. Massive CAV generator/dynamo, part number says LV6/MT4 2920-99-804-1818? thanks guys Terry
  14. er-how do I get the screen with the tool bars, and insert video clip icon up? thanks Terry
  15. Pics attached of the mecu, old GCA, and currently installed one-just noticed fuse on mecu-does this protect whole of mecu, as I seem to remember there are 3 different compartments, I think gearbox, engine and IMH? thanks
  16. I think there's one on e bay at the moment terry
  17. is there anyone who has knowledge of challenger cv12 engine control system (MECU)?
  18. Gone are the days of popping into your local DVLA, having a chat with the clerk and skipping out with your MV's reg no. Everything goes through a central database and is checked to see that your vehicle complies with construction and use legislation, particularly size, weight, lighting and braking systems, and that vehicles are legitimately released. All is not lost, as there are exemptions that allow you to legally register your vehicle. You will need to study the numerous variations available in the bodytype, taxation class, and wheelplan categories ;-) Terry
  19. it's almost certainly the oil seal behind the clutch. Black because it had run through the friction material dust in the clutch drum. It would burn during clutch take up, but once engaged there would be no smoke as both driven and driver parts of the clutch are rotating at the same speed. Its a common failure along with the output seals leaking onto the steering discs (check these as they can leak even when not in use) Terry
  20. Chris, do you have an FV number for the correct idler? the more I look at this the more it looks like a stormer idler! Terry ah! just clocked the As55352 part number on the shim page!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Thanks Richard, you could well be right. These came off a Witham's CVRT, so assumed they were the correct cvrt ones but have heard how some units fitted Stormer running gear parts to cvrt!!!
  22. Thanks Chris, no, no shims at all. The idler rims seem too wide, and too wide a gap for the horn? Terry
