  1. Hello Bill. Its quicker to show you the pictures of the vehicles i have here. The jeep underwent a nut and bolt restoration 20 years ago by Tony Sudds.A respected jeep parts dealer and former restorer in the U.K http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/100_9693.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/100_9887.jpg[/img][ http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/100_9585.jpg[/img] My former 101 Ambulancehttp://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/ambulancefront.jpg[/img] And former LtWthttp://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/landrover.jpg[/img]
  2. Hello Bill.Just looking at the pics of your LTWT.You need to change the tyres to the Goodyear Hi-miler as seen on the one below yours, and you have a civvy rear cross member fitted.
  3. I'm afraid i had the same problems as described.Turned out to be a shagged starter motor.
  4. I got a call from him last night, but heard earlier that morning.Right p***ed off.
  5. GKN Sankey Built the Saxon. They recently failed a stability test for the Army, hence why Withams have so many.I suspect that the one in the picture with the odd turret and armoured front guard is destined shortly for a new life back in Iraq with a private security company.
  6. There was a small article on this in last months MMI.This is an almost identical design of the Toureg.Built by Glover Webb at the back end of the 80,s as a trials vehicle for the Army. The Toureg was never taken up.But one example was believed to have been used by the SAS during the first Gulf War,though ive never seen any proof.
  7. Anyone got a link to this Crouchy fella,s website?
  8. Give it a few years and you wont see any on the show circuit. Now is the time to buy.
  9. The one i was interested in was the last one they had on the Sunday night in camo. Was it that one?.I know what you are saying about Withams though.Last years CVRT they had for £10,000 was worked on by some one i know.Who was told by them,to just make sure that it goes backwards/forwards,stops and that the lights work.
  10. Having driven both the MJ/MK and the Daf45,the latter is a more relaxed experience.Almost car like.Power steering on the 45,but gear selection can be a bit notchy due to the linkage system. But to be Honest the MJ seems to ooze,s more character.I was seriously tempted by the ones on offer by Withams at Beltring. To the point that the other half went back to the tent to get the credit card to buy it.(she really likes em)Only to find on our return,it had been sold for £2550.
  11. Ive driven it.And i love it.Its like a Go Kart.
  12. My advice is keep all weapons covered and away from prying eyes until you are on the show ground. Most Police are ignorant to the fact that there are reanactors and that MV owners display weapons in context with the vehicle they own. This couldnt have been more high lighted than at this years Biggin Hill Airshow, when some one as part of a group with MV,s was walking around in full dress carrying a Garand.(Not the sort of show for this to be honest)My brother managed to stop his Sargeant from arresting him,All because he didnt understand about the movement, and took him to be a nutcase.
  13. It always amazes me how these events are percieved on the continent.I mean just look at the public crowding the route.Could you ever imagine something like that happening in this country.?
  14. Yep agreed. The marshalling was very bad.Weather was good.Just like last year.
  15. The Wings and Wheels event was upon us once again. This is turning out to be a great show on the calender. Not only do you have the chance to see some nice MV,s but there are also some classic port cars, bikes, and supercars being put through there paces down the runway. The home of TopGear. And to top it all you are treated to an air display.Like last year we were graced with good weather, and was attended not only by me but also HMVF (now)regulars Nick Johns and Steve Ryan. 16. Hopefully i will be ok this year :dunno:.But glad to know you will be coming along.
  17. This Sunday.Anyone else on here going?.I shall be travelling down with the wife, and one of the bin lids in the 101 and trailer.See you there.
  18. Hello Mark,i was a bit unsure about the red flash myself.Thing is,i dont have the correct shade of green to match the rest of the vehicle if i paint that bit out.I didnt really want to go down that route for vehicle that im only going to have for a couple of months.Did the RAF EOD vehicles have a similar scheme to this??
  19. Ive just sold my RangeRover and am awaiting the arrival of a new one in November. In the meantime ive bought this as a runabot in the meantime. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/100_0089.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/100_0087.jpg[/img] Its a 2 1/4 petrol version.Civvy spec. But it has been done by a previous owner to replicate an EOD vehicle.Im surprised how economical it is.Its not that bad on the road either.Ive managed a steady 75mph with it.Great fun and cheap to run.Im not to sure if EOD vehicles had the red flash on the rear tub though??.I will be sad to see it go in a few months time.
  20. There are a few over there.Kahki imports had one in stock.Located in Tulsa i think.I know its some distance, but might be worth a look if they still have it for sale.
  21. Your looking at the wrong hole.lol.The hole you are loking at is for the fittment of a winch, which works off the transfer box.If you look at the middle of the bumper, and just under the lip,you will see a small hole there where the handle fits. This in turn, fits in to and end on the front of the crank pulley.
  22. It has TVR,s own engine in it.Not the Speed 6!!!!.Its a 4.2 V8,putting out around 440bhp.Doesnt sound like a V8 though.Sounds like two flat fours.Due to the flat plane crank thats used(F1 tech)Managed on the day an unofficial time from a standing mile of 33 seconds and 174.8mph.I was given free reign to take pics of anything of interest whilst i was there. But the batterys died on my camera.I was a bit shocked at the state of some of the vehicles they had there. It was a true sign that the money is not being spent in MT anyway.
  23. The reason why people originally had brass plaques, was because back in the old days pre-W+P,this was the IMPS annual rally, and was then run in conjuction with the original owners of the Hop Farm which was Whitbreads brewery.I think but im not sure but they helped with the costs regarding the plaques.
  24. GARY HOWARD!!! I dont want to go there.Well i would, but the Mods would close the thread.
