  1. Regarding the Falklands slot.I mustered myself to the arena for the display, only to find myself and one captured G-Wagon.Then had an argument with some one who said that 101,s werent in the Falklands.Had to argue the fact that they were.He then decided to let me in.
  2. To be honest,if this is the way the are going to treat MV owners, then you should (ALL) give it a miss!
  3. No worries Steve.I will print you off a bigger pic,and give it to you at Dunsfold.
  4. A poor event for MV owners.Every year seems to get worse, with the vehicles more and more side lined every year.I no longer attend this, even as a spectator.
  5. I spoke to one of the pilot,s who,s also a Cerbera owner like me.He told me that the whole regiment will be in training next month for redeployment back to Afganistan.
  6. Engine. The jack handle comes in 2 pieces and is from an early Range Rover
  7. Bloody hell Nick. What a jeep. That could be one of the most original jeeps around.Repro parts were unheard of 40 years ago.Why wont he sell it to you.It doesnt look like he,s going to do anything with it.Well he aint in 40 years.? Oh and can i have a drive in the new toy when you get it.?Always liked the look of them.
  8. Come on Nick what have you bought this time?
  9. Sorry i cant bring you any pics but for the second day running ive had problems with the camera.Lots of MV,s there but a lot looked in a sorry state. Some 6x6 Fodens with cargo bodies on them.Never seen them before.Lots of Pinzgauers,Wolfs, and a few Renolds Boughtons.Heres the only one picture i have. And this is one of the official ones from the day.Me next to Apache. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC_0309.jpg[/img]
  10. I attended the small gathering of MV,s in attendance at the Royal Chelsea Hosp today, home of the Chelsea pensioners. This event has been run by the NLBA for a number of years now and what a nice day it was, which included a lunch, cheap drinks from the bar. With nice surroundings, and even a trip to the National Army Museum next door to see the new Iraq/Afganistan exhibition.Which now has one of the latest generation Wolf CAV (snatch) LandRovers on display outside.Unfortunatley,i dont have a pic of this as in my haste to leave this morning i forgot my camera so had to rely on a mobile phone. The (snatch)didnt come out as i forgot to save it,but will go back at a later date to get a pic as im only a 3 miles away from the museum.Sorry for the quality of the following pics. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00239.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00238.jpg[/img] Unusual rear body.http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00236.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00234.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00233.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00231.jpg[/img] Kevins well travelled Ferret. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00230.jpg[/img] A rather tasty MUTT.http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00229.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00228.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00224.jpg[/img] And finally my trusty 101 http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00225.jpg[/img] http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/DSC00220.jpg[/img]
  11. This threads useless without pics.lol Here is one of my old bus, back in the summer of 91.http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/landrover.jpg[/img]Kit wise it depends on what era you want to portray your Ltwt. You can use all as been mentioned above, right up to the latest helmets and SA80,s.But still with 58 webbing. The bulk of Ltwts were disposed of around 94-95 with some off the last going around 99-00
  12. I think you may have hit the nail on the head.I had some streaks over the roof and some parts down the sides.I put this down to sap from trees. Its peeling in exactly those places.Looks like a scrub up and brush down, and start again.
  13. Thats the funny thing. On the sides where it is thick,it has stayed on.Where as on the top where it is a little bit thinner its peeling like mad.
  14. A few months back i bought a gallon of canvas paint from a well known paint supplier in the MV world.I painted the canvas on the 101 using the whole gallon in the process. Now after taking the canvas off and rolling the sides up a few times its started to peel very badly.Arent these canvass paints supposed to be more durable.I thought it had a wax type base to it to make it more flexable.Anyone with any ideas. This is what it looked like before it all went Pete Tong http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/BLUETHUNDER_06/100_9588.jpg[/img]
  15. How can a drive shaft twist??They just snap dont they.Arent they made from cast?or are they different on the Pig?
  16. I had moved the Ferret down to Hadlow on the Sunday afternoon of the show. Its got to have the engine out,so moved it early.I had the rest of the display and 101 and trailer and jeep loaded and off site by 22.30 that night.I spoke to some one who lives there this morning, and she couldnt believe that there was stuff still lying there. She said the Hop Farm is normally a magnet for the pikeys out of Yalding.I do hope the rest of you get your stuff back a o.k.
  17. Seeing as your in Brighton, wouldnt it have been easier for you to drive it back, rather than have it sitting there for all this time?
  18. Im taking part next week in a race event to be held at the above. The Major in charge of the event, also happens to be a TVR Cerbera owner like me,and knows i have an intrest in all things military. He has promised i can have a tour of the REME workshops and photograph vehicles on site.Ive also been promised a proper look around an AH-64 Apache Longbow,as this is there home base.I will endevour to bring pics and a report next week.
  19. Well thats a first for me.I never knew so many vehicles were still on site this long after the show.Seeing that they are going to be there that long couldnt you strip what you can from it,to make it less tempting?Do you only have one fella with a lowloader to do all the work then?
  20. Let me get this right? You lot still have vehicles still in place at the Hop Farm? How long do people have vehicles on site for?And why do you still have them there?
  21. All LRs,supplied to the military were painted in DBG.It was then up to individual units or regiments to camo them. The practice died out with the introduction of the Defender series. You may also find that your LTWT might not have even seen military service. It may have just been used as a hack by the M.O.D.I had one that was used just for that purpose.
  22. I will if its the right money and not to bad.
  23. I just think its a little worrying that it could be people in our own community that could be doing it.I do hope not.Very sad if it is.
  24. Take a short trip to Bisley and have a look on the ranges. For some strange reason there is no security there what so ever.So you can just walk up and have a look at whats going on.The first range you come to is the 1200mtr range.Normally get lots of regular and T.A units using SA80,S and LSW,S there. Also get some overseas units there with a myriad of different weapons. Its a bit of a laugh sitting in the butts operating the targets when the army open up.The amount of zings over your head and sand kicking up is a bit like a war film.
  25. Well hopefully im going to take a look at it this week.If its ok then i might make a silly offer,as he doesnt know anything about MV,s.
