  1. It seems as though the live rounds were pointed like a normal round. It was for the 7.92 Mauser. i am also told, unlike the british ones, that they would not have any paint or identification on them, just pure brass
  2. Just found this in a book "Making Tracks"
  3. a 7.92 ww1 German drill round http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/threads/82079-What-is-this-Drill-Round

  7. Stripped the paint completely now, have cleaned all the parts and re-assembled, will need another coat or two of graphite paste but it looks a lot better
  8. The idea of having a big bulky bag for drink seemed a bit impractical, but i see you point it was an obvious question
  9. Another piece of my collection. Havn't seen many of these, are they very common? also was it actually for a flask or something else
  10. I stripped the paint yesterday and it turns out quite a lot of the bluing s still there, is the "gun blue" any good for just giving it another finish or is it completely useless? this pistol is mainly for display and being put in a holster with a uniform so it will not be constantly handled.
  11. I have a nice pair of Bren Gun 37pat webbing pouches which i believe have been painted green, is there any way of removing it? I may want to blanco it a different colour later. Will try to find some photos

  19. i'll give it a good clean up then give it a go, i think i paid a few £ for it so i can't loose
  20. I have no idea why it was there!:-D I think i will probably sell it as it uses up a lot of space, what would you say it is worth?
  21. Any ideas what it is from, possibly not military, but plate comes off to oil bottle compartment. Another cheap car-boot find.
  22. As some may know i have an Enfield Mk1** pistol which is in a rough state. It has been crudely painted with black paint covering up all markings and leaving drips of paint on it. Where the paint has chipped you can clearly see the original bluing has gone. Does anyone know any ideas of re-bluing or finishing? I am very ford of it and it world be a shame to leave it as it is I found this: http://www.ehow.com/how_5679415_refinish-metal-gun-parts.html I looked on Ebay and Gun Blue seems to take several forms: gel, liquid etc Which is best?
