  1. Lately i got a WW2 dated lamp, it seems very similar to some ww1 ones pictured on the forum. Any ideas what it would be used for? it seems quite late to be a vehicle lamp. Possibly railway? I fancy the idea of restoring it but not sure what they would have looked like. There is an olive paint on it but dont know if it is original or added later. Thanks
  2. Had a great weekend at the "Bunker Bash", lots of interest in the bike. Managed to ride it a bit and went well. Big and Small
  3. Some great videos there, amazing how well they are preserved
  4. I appologise for causing any temptations:-D They are great little bikes. ..... I think i have now sorted the throttle problem, and a few other problems. Had a ride on it today and performed great! All ready for Bunker Bash!
  5. Picked this up at the car boot on sunday for £1 Its quite large Dont really know much info on it, any ideas?
  6. On Sunday we had success, after a few adjustments she ran. Managed to get a good ride on it, i was both learning to ride a motorbike and make adjustments at the same time ( took a while to get used to ). The throttle had a tendancy to stick at the moment meaning it sticks on a horribly high rev and of course unable to stop the bike because the is no ignition, had to turn the fuel tap off and wait a few minutes for it to run out of fuel! Will probably have to clean the carb out. A few loose bolts and exaust gasket leaks. Other than that she ran great and am looking forward to the next ride. I am very happy with the result and it certainly made my day Will be bringing it to the bunker bash but may not be able to run it unless i can sort out the throttle. Here is a video of the run: Will add a few pics later
  7. I have seen some recent dated 58 belts. They felt as if they were more reproductions than continued manufacture. They were very flimsy and did not feel very strong. They may have been reproductions made in china or somewhere, not up to the standard of the proper 58s
  8. 1st attempt at starting commenced today. No luck was gained by attemting to start by pushing appart from a very painful cramp in my right leg. A few problems: Small crack in the solder under the fuel tap, throttle adjustment (on carb) snapped. Fotunately both problems can be fixed. I have my original fittings from the old cables which i shall use to replace the broken fitting. We managed to start it using a drill and socket on the drive nut to the rear wheel. A lot of carb adjustments took place until it finally did start. Only problem was it started and the throttle open to far and due to the broken fitting the cable would not return far enough to calm it down, also to start it the clutch had to be disconnected so we were unable to stop it. Turned off the fuel tap and had to wait for the remaining fuel to be used up. A very frantic minute there. So hopefully tomorrow a lot of these problems shall be solved. need to touch up a lot of pain there the fuel has eaten away at it but nothing really bad went wrong and we are still willing to carry on tomorrow.
  9. i assume the twist fastner on the side of some of the ammunition pouches (bayonet?) Was Also used later as the main pouch had the later fastener. Am i right in thinking this or am i completely wrong?
  10. There seem to be quite a few compass pouches around, not sure if it is just me but i seem to see them quite often both at shows and on Ebay
  11. Only twist fastening piece i've got is what i believe is a binocular case. Cant say ive seen much of it around at all! Does their price reflect their rarity?
  12. Just finishing off the touch ups. One thing i forgot to mention that was completed a few weeks ago was the repair of the brake pedal. It had holes drilled in it, we filled the up with solder, added filler and rubbed down. It was then primed and painted. Before: After:
  13. Ah yes, looking at some photos, that does seem to match up with one and would explain the stiching. Thanks
  14. Nearly There Have been touching up the paint where it has been scratched on nuts, bolts and wheels etc. Secured the brake leaver bracket and have connected up the brake which seems to be working fine. Just need to get round to trying to start it. Then all there is to do is: tank Stenciling, tank transfers, secure seat cover and finish touching up paint
  15. Been at it again this weekend and bank holiday. Tyres are now on (after much dificulty and scratched paint) Fuel line on with hose. Wheels all in place, brake connected. New tank cap and made up some tank bolts. Almost finished. Before attempting to start i just need to secure the brake bracket. Also at some point i will do tank numbers, tank transfers, touch up paint and will have to mock up some handlebar grips unless i can find some.
  16. Similar one here, i dont think this was its official use though.
  17. I used this on my Enfield Mk1** and it worked great, takes several even coats but looks good as a result
  18. That would be great to see some pictures! Sounds like a nice jeep
  19. Took the jeep out for a test run yesterday afternoon and all is good. There is now a lot less rattleing under the hood and we are now running aroung 20 degrees cooler than before which is very good!
  20. Yep there are a lot of nice early parts, a lot of Fs too which is nice (just hidden under lots of paint!). The engine block is Willys but the head is ford and F marked. I have heard that a lot of the early ford engines had a habbit of cracking and this may have been one of them.
  21. Great photos, i love the one of the saracen in the mud and the other one (ferret?)
  22. Took the grille and radiator off this weekend and replaced the water pump, also just gave a lot of the engine a clean up. Also changed thermostat. All went well, and seems to be running well.
  23. Dug mine up, it is in much beeter condition than i remember, most of the tape is stuck, you can see through the white in place but it is in pretty good condition.
