  1. great looking toolkit ...In terms of the toolkit for the 3sw it contains the following triumph spanners NA66 NA55 PA56 PA57 PA60 DA87 DA5 NA65 DA21 DA16 DA72 KA50 The link below takes you to a free site with all the triumph Handbooks including the 3sw and has pen and ink images of the spanners http://www.pdfmotomanual.com/index.php?r=site/page&view=manuales&order=t&key=T&make=1966&lang=ENG interestingly no oil can or grease gun ..So i must assume these were army issue ... I believe some of these spanners continued in use well after the war ..but will try and get the un chromed versions as that does appear to be more war pattern finish ...interestingly as the bike is early war 1940 ..it has chrome brake and throttle fittings painted green plus still had rubber Grips ...Triumph were actively using available stocks which were clearly still civilian pattern .. As such if chrome tools were around potentially they could have been issued with the bike ....I was hoping to find an owner with an original toolkit but looks unlikely ... Jenkinov
  2. Thanks it would be interesting to see the rebuild ..my forks were ok so I have never stripped a set down..on the original photo set I see you have a rear rack ..did you get this with the bike. Jenkinov
  3. Nice looking project. Interested to see that you have replaced the front forks .and returned it to its original configuration. I have seen a few sets of blades ..mostly from Greece but not seen any front ends. Have you gone for Indian copies or been lucky enough to trace an original set..? Can I ask if the carburretor is original ? . I must admit I do fancy a 3hw .... Jenkinov
  4. Ron..predictive text strikes again ...unchromed was the intended word.... Jenkinov More of a beer man....bitter and porter
  5. If you turn up any 6v motorcycle batteries please give me a shout as I would be interested in seeing if i could revive one.. Jenkins
  6. I am interested in building up a toolkit for the triumph 3swept ..the handbook lists the tools but I was interested in understanding if the spanners are chromed or unchromed ...it looks as if some of th e tools were produced post war . I am assuming the wartime tools were uncorked .... Does anyone have a toolkit .....or know ... Jenkinov
  7. Well in an unexpected turn of events Classic Bike parts of Cheshire refunded me my money ..At this stage i must assume that they do not have a Classic 6v hard rubber wet cell battery in stock .. The search begins again .... or re think my strategy ... Jenkinov
  8. I decided to have another search on the internet and immediately found a supplier ..As such I have ordered an original battery from Classic Bike parts of Cheshire .. I am very pleased to have traced one ..I understand why most riders have changed to modern batteries but oddly i enjoy the 6v wiring system .. I have also retained 6v on my jeep and retained the original carter carburettor whilst many have fitted more efficient versions .,,I do say that i enjoy it with tongue in check ..I should say i enjoy it when its working and curse its invention when it fails .. Jenkinov ..
  9. The 6c system on my triumph 3 SW only runs the lights ....I may have to concede to a copy battery but live in hope i can trace a 6 v wet cell hard rubber battery Jenkinov
  10. I have a triumph 3sw and my 6 v hard rubber wet cell battery has died ...i revived it 3 years ago but as in the monty python sketch ..this battery is dead.. I have actively looked for a replacement wet cell battery but it appears as if the rest of the world has converted to replacement hard case boxes with modern batteries inside ,, I have a preference to use an original battery if i can find one ....any ideas .... Jenkinov
  11. Thanks Ron ..I should have said blades but i think they are a key component in rebuilding your front end and critically look to be original ..and in good condition . Jenkinov
  12. On E Bay today is a triumph 3SW Fork ..item no is 2616529256266..I have compared it with the stripped one on triumph wd and it looks a 100% match .A second opinion would not hurt but appears to be the holy grail in terms of your missing forks Good Hunting Jenkinov 261652925266
  13. In terms of tyres i would recommend Ensign ..I found about about them via the VMCC..They have a Square tread but a more modern profile on the tyre and i feel are better on corners ...They are rated to 120mph so should be fine for the 3HW.. I would describe them as a road tyre ..but if you anticipate field work Mitas would have the edge ..I had ordered some tyres described as Dunlop universal from India but must admit when i saw them face to face decided i had made a mistake and the dealer agreed . Jenkinov
  14. The enclosed link gives a list of registered 3HWs and dates of manufacture if known.. http://wdtriumph.nl/3hwframe.html The bike with the nearest frame number to you appears to be Rons ... I would recommend registering your bike on the wdtriumph website ... Regards Jenkinov
  15. I note that you were looking for a repro from number plate ..I traced an original but then decided not to fit it ..i remembered they cut like a knife if you hit someone ,,,,,just use a rear number plate ... Regards Jenkinov
  16. If you have tested the spark and its strong I would suspect fuel starvation ...an area worth investigating is the fuel pump the diaphram occasionally fail becoming porous ..often running ok on idle but failing when put under load... Jenkinov
  17. I tried lincoln batteries as I have a 6v in my jeep but they responded to my e mail that they could not supply a 6v wet cell battery... I will try shield batteries next.... Jenkinov
  18. I have a triumph 3sweet fitted with a traditional 6v wet cell hard rubber battery ....the battery came with the bike and I successfully rejuvenated the battery 2 years ago by charging and discharging but I now have heavy qualification on the terminals and my old strategy had little impact.. Questions 1 any alternative suggestions to rejuvenate the battery... 2 has anyone removed the guts and used the case for a modern battery.... 3 or time for a new battery ...any recommendations for an authentic looking battery.. Suppliers ..stockists.. Regards Jenkinov
  19. My 6v jeep gave me concerns when I got her ..but I purchased a high output 6v battery and have had no issues for the 10 years I have owned her....I am pleased that I chose to stick with the 6 volt system ...I start and run the jeep monthly to ensure everything is ok .... Jenkinov
  20. Tank is all sprayed up after a nice dry Sunday and I am just allowing it a few days to harden..I have ordered replacement knee rubbers and keeping an eye out for a suitable badge... My hard rubber 6v battery appears to be dead ... Options are to buy a replacement 6v wet cell.....any recommendations.. Or buy a replacement Lucas box and modern insert.. Or drain and dismantle the old battery and use the shell for a modern battery.. Any recommendations.... Jenkinov
  21. Ron..I have 2 tapped holes in the tank top....I think I have the right thread just need a couple of screws...brass..or silver and an old badge......waiting for some good weather to spray the tank.. Jenkinov
  22. Thanks Ron...can I assume that after flattening the badge you also had to drill to mount it...did you then use brass or steel bolts for mounting... Regards Jenkinov
  23. Einbeck...Thank you for the photo..the tank badge certainly has some age and unless anyone thinks otherwise I will use see it as my guide for hunting out my own badge. Great to hear your tank is in good shape....I have spent a long time fighting with mine ...see thread ....and have had professional help in the restoration...I should have sought it much earlier. Jenkinov
  24. Welcome to the forum..good looking bike......always keen to see bikes running probably because I have had long fights with bikes that did not want to run well....so would always recommend running and enjoying a bike...you can return to I yt? S military spec at your own pace as parts become available ...rather than risk stripping back a runner and then having issues with parts and struggling .. I have found this forum a great help in my restoration of a triumph 3sw and hope you find it as useful Could I suggest registering your bike at triumphwd.nl Jenkinov
