  1. Looks to good, complete and original for breaking, just a shame that it's a snow blower which are of little use or interest to most. I hope your father is making good progress with his truck. regards Ben
  2. apologies for not being able to get these pic's to you sooner Roy and apologies again as it seems your assumptions were correct as it does have twin axles and not the hex' shaped headboard i thought it had.
  3. I have pm'ed him already but could do with his number as I have some info that maybe of much value to him but unfortunately escalating scrap prices make the scenario time critical. thanks Ben
  4. Ian hughes on 07850 957188 sends stuff stateside frequently including Dingo's and has great experience with containers etc. regards Ben
  5. will travel fine on a twin wheel transit as done this a few times myself. Ben

  9. Thanks for that interesting info there Glynn, so does your freind bert still own the truck or was it sold to someone else in cumbria? Oh by the way I believe you wanted to know the whereabouts of a certain commer beetle, I'd check your pm's. regards Ben
  10. Thanks for the response Glynn, Yeap the picture was taken at Flookborough, so does your friend Bert still own this truck or was it sold? regards Ben
  11. Hi all, I would really like to own this truck, I am led to believe it was for sale a couple of years ago by a well known collector in the peak district? I am a big fan of the unusual and this truck really ticks that box for me any leads would be much appreciated. regards Ben
  12. Well instead of buying the 'Classic Comic' invest in a complete box set of wheels & tracks and problem solved. Seen a few and bought a set recently on epay 1-75 issues as new in bound collectors edition for £30. In my opinion nobody has come close to the perfectionism and dedication that Bart put into the ORIGINAL military vehicle magazine. You'll never look back and never bother looking on the magazine racks again!
  13. When i enquired it was 30k, i think it is another way of saying i don't want to sell unless you have lost all track of what ww2 trucks are worth!
  14. You'll save on average at least £1000 a year in fuel if you buy a REO!! Get freindly with your local garages who will gladly give you contaminated fuel for free and happy fuel-cost free motoring!!! Might be a few more grand expensive to buy, but you'll save the difference in fuel in no time and also have a far more reliable truck. Bedford's are great but if its petrol you'll find yourself making frequent visits to the petroleum station! I must say that there is a supurb looking REO for sale on milweb at the moment, £6500ono I think. Go rob your piggy bank and go for it.
  15. I had a m1008 and it was jacked up/ riding on hummer tyres and looked great! Ian Hughes still uses it daily and has several and i think had a couple of cheap projects for sale see Hughes movie supplies on milweb. Basically you get a very cheap hummer with a M1008/9 (uses same engine/box V8 diesel 3 spd auto) but with a far better drive and as twice as usefull..... bargain me thinks!!!
  16. See you there.............FWD reliability allowing!!!
  17. Oh yeah... Houston we will be FWD HAR-1 good to go-go!!!
  18. I see from your list of vehicles you own one like mine, whilst at w&p please come and say hello. regards ben
  19. been reading the fascinating thread and had to add mine, not a ww1 FWD admitedly but a FWD all the same, hopefully at W&P for the first time this year.
  20. Look in the Sikorski museum archives, plenty of pictures there i think. Currently involved myself with my truck and Polish goings on. Look up Polish Truck Restoration and you'll come across my truck FWD HAR-1 as pictured here.
  21. I have one on my truck, seems different pattern semaphore for britsh vehicles than for modified american such as dodges and my FWD, smaller indicator arm etc.
  22. more from malta, during my hoilday this year and on the way back to valetta the K6 and C15a looking very sorry, the standard tilly at the aviation museum alongside a very nice british airborne jeep.
  23. Thanks Clive just phoned him and he managed to sort me out! many thanks for your swift response regards ben.
  24. Does anyone have the details of the chap who has a small gasket/seal stand at malvern every time. The Chap i'm talking about has glasses and moustache and would be in his 50's. many thanks in advance ben.
  25. My american truck (fwd har-1) which was produced primarily only for british contracts had the following british modifications before being dispatched to british units: * semaphore on the R/H * 'Caution left hand drive' stenciled on the back * British army reg no' stenciled sides of bonnet and back * Diff painted white for convoy recognition, but no convoy light * American marker lights moved further out to width of vehicle * Bridge plate fitted to L/H side * In some cases removal of headlights and fitment of blackout lamp on R/H side.
