Apologies for the spot of Threadomancy, but whilst wandering around the quieter bits of East Kirkby, during Sunday's 3 Lancasters event, I came across this!
The only other known survivor's down at Bov.

Missed it myself, had to work. The queue towards Waddington at around 10am, was back to Coleby Grange, saw the two Lancs flying across the Bardney Levels a bit later.
It'll be a busy day at Waddington today. Both Lancs & the Vulcan, all lined up.

Vulcan flew in yesterday, landed "uphill", to the disappointment of me & a few dozens others, who were under the flightpath on the A15 side.

There's a length of track on this page, but that's all I can find on the net.
Interesting to see pictures of the remains you describe.
I was standing in a field near Bracebridge Heath. at 1.15, when it was intended to fly over, the weather was really quite pleasant, given a new eta of 2pm and at 1.55, the heavens opened!
"It's a bit heavy"
"Oooooooo ffffffffff"
"Reckon we need a bigger crane lads, oh, can Bill swim?"
"Well, that was easy, get that truck out now"
"Up she comes"
"Oooooohhh ffffffffff"
Approx 1.40pm, Landrover 1 ton forward control, broken down at Kelham bridge, on the A617 near Newark. Rather tatty camo,on an X-plate.
Same poor bugger seen at 5.40pm, on the back of a breakdown truck, heading Mansfield way.
