A bit of a thread resurrection... Looking at your video I am guessing we must have been standing quite close to each other.... :undecided: I have stacks of photos from the Independence day parade (various years) held each October the 1st in Nicosia south and quite a few from the one held in Nicosia north (I think the 28th October?) Plus some also from the Kyrina so called Museum if anyone is interested.. I also found some so called Willy's jeeps in a scrap yard (Nicosia North area) the other day..

This is not completely true, I have a friend who has awillys jeep in military colours (running around the island and there are someex military land rovers also running around. the 2 dealers on the old road fromOrmidia to Napa both sell ex military landys.. Not everything is that expensive compared to the uk; take council/poll tax for 1 in uk I had to pay £120 per month 6 years back hereI pay that a year, my car tax is cheaper than the uk, my heating bill is a lot less than the UK, my water is so cheap around 20e for 3 months, various restaurants still offer very good value for money (ok tourist areas arenot always cheap but then what holiday place is), and so on.... local produce can still be purchased at a reasonable price ok things are bad if you are relying on the sterling to be converted to the euro to live here, but that would be the same for any country you were living in and needing the euro conversion..

I think this a great christmas related theme..

The Chally you mention is still MOD kit, and is loaned to the person you speak of, it is stored at Borden.. I think I am correct in saying it was a driver training aid and then the turret was added when restored to show...

We have the civi spec of this which came into service with us about 5 1/2 years ago... ours has the clutchless pedel gear box.... lovely bit of kit to drive... one bad point here is that the mirror heads/arm cost around 1500euro due to them being electric and maybe local dealer ripping us off....

Its just south of a village called Xylofagou but know as the Dhekeia ranges, there is also quite a few 432's the remains of a ferret and if memory serves me correct a 432 and cheftian in Berlin camo, and a 432 in white from UN service... the ranges are open to the public unless the red flags are flying....

Adrian, you beat me to it, of course using an Antar to go to Vehicle events is a necessity.... and of course there has never been any accidents involving any STGO vehicles.... let alone an Antar..... Antar Mike, sure lives are/could be ruined, but what if an Antar was taking one of its necessary moves to a vehicle show and something happened..... Mike don’t bother to answer, as I feel this is now going nowhere and of course you are right and the Antar is the only correct vehicle to move tracks.... because an accident could never happen when a STGO load is being moved!!!!

Sure but you can also get killed just crossing the road from a bus/ car / etc etc.... Can you or anyone confirm how many road deaths (RTC/TRA/RTI) have been causedby civilian owned armoured vehicles ?

When I had my Abbott (ok not 432 but 433) DVLA registeredit tracked crawler. I drove many miles and without any issues. DVLA registered my 432 as a mini bus, again never had anyissues with it on the road. I also registered a Chieftain MBT for the road, I even had police authority toself escort when moving it on the road. Now there is no doubt that the Chieftainis over width by somewhat more than a 432... again no issues and as said,driven various time on the public highway, and movements approved by Plodwithout them in attendance. A friend has a Cent ARV road registered again withoutissues, and again we have been authorized by a different counties police forceto self escort. Let's not forget Stalwarts also come in to the over widthcategory, so guess that also means they fail C +U regs. My stalwart coveredmany miles again without issues and was well know in my local area, or was thatI was well know and all the plod knew the vehicles. OK it's been made clear the 432 may not meet C+U regs,but until DVLA stops issuing V5's why will people not enjoy drivingthem... Enjoy life to its fullest, you live once!!!!

Double check that a spec lift, under lift doesn't now come under the + E category on your licence, as some seem to say the broken down vehicle (or the vehicle) you are towing can be classed as a trailer meaning you would need +E. Although the regs use to say otherwise... I think once you go PLG you will lose the MOT exemption as it is no long taxed under the recovery group where the exemption applies. Is it not also a case of when towing a non broken down vehicle it should be done on a "O" licence if it's for hire or reward?
