  1. But that's where all the goodness is. Thanks for all the updates and piccies. Really, REALLY looking forward to next week. Hope to see some of you from Tues.
  2. Not that anyone will be remotely interested in including my ugly mug, but in the interests of 'photobombing' I am available to pull faces in the background from Tues to Friday.
  3. Adrian, Without doubt I'd recommend Sikaflex...more specifically Sikaflex 291, It's a flexible adhesive like a silicone mastic, but it's not silicone, it's polyurathane (sp?). We use it a lot in the boat yard, it will stick most things to most things with a rubber like beading, we use it predominantly to re bed keels on to boats, which admitedly have bolts too, but saying that when we remove keels, those bedded with Sikaflex will hold in place even when the bolts have been removed. It has been known for the fibreglass of a boat hull to give up before the Sikaflex does
  4. Absolutely stunning... Just the right amount of weathering, how can that last pic not be a real one.
  5. Part 1 I have been given by my Mother in Law a number of Sphere magazines dating from 1942 to 1944 (including some D-DAY related ones) I would love to scan these in and upload them for others to read, but I'm not sure how to upload a PDF or a TIFF. Part 2 is with ref the scanned pages, because the pages are old sizes, they don't fit brilliantly on the scanner (ie you can't quite get a double page spread in one scan) as such I have to do one page at a time and rotated to fit. I haven't got a PDF editor to rotate these but I can scan them as a TIFF group of images and can rotate them but they're still in individual pages not double spreads... ...the long and the short of it is if I send the PDFs or upload them, can anyone with the ADOBE software rotate them? or otherwise offer any advice. Thanks
  6. :rotfl:That release sounds positive, I'm sad in a way, but also looking forward to a change. Bring it on and best of luck to Rex. I did quite like the backroad ramble as a wind down from the M25 though so I for one will try and avoid the M20
  7. I doubt you are, as up to this point no one knows or should know my insurance affairs, but in case any one is looking in my direction, as a proud owner of a completely fake Military Landrover (which I have never told anyone otherwise and until funds allow a forray into WMIK ownership) I have it insured as a modified LR 110, with 'pictures provided' agreed value, originally on a standard 'limited milage' policy, but now on an 'historic vehicle' policy changed at the suggestion of, and by the insurance co. when it celebrated it's 25th birthday and as such negating the limited milage restriction as an added bonus. (not that running a V8 unroofed brick as an everyday motor is comfortably or financially an option). I agree it's foolish and irresponsible and criminal to knowingly enter fraudulant details to insurance companies and as said previously...to what gain? both military and classic/historic ins. rates are pretty favourable.:undecided:
  8. For what it's worth, I have just passed these details on to our local UK Border Agency rep (as was Customs) he will pass it on to his colleague who he informs me specialises in the export/import of all things military & ex military including de-acs. You never know...hope it helps.
  9. That's me and my kids hidden away in the back there. I had a cracking time all told, stayed with the ever welcoming TT Mike, Grasshopper, Chris G and various other lovely people. Thanks to all them. It's been summed up before but, yes muddy but certainly manageable. I think if had continued to rain as it had the previous week it might have made camping more 'challenging' but as it was it just got better & better. Roll on next year :-D
  10. Lee, I know it's probably been said, but huge thanks for the updates, I really appreciate seeing how things are coming on (as we all do no doubt) and although with the current weather there's an amount of trepidation, there's an equal amount of exitement about heading down. Really look forward to catching up with everyone I know. Thanks again... & mind the trench foot.
  11. Nice cans No no no...sorry...couldnt resist it
  12. Hmmm, light vehicle with great off road capabilities you say, perhaps something fibreglass with all the unnecessary bits lopped off, like roof and windows, with ooh, I don't know... tracks would be clever....now if only someone could build such a beast :cool2:
  13. It's so changeable, I'll be packing my oil-skin shorts, wellyflops, hooded teeshirts, 15f (fathoms) sunscreen, straw souwester and sungoggles. There. Every base covered
  14. Seems to be working fine now. .com takes you to a nice W&P intro page with a link to the .co.uk site.
  15. Sorry for any delay, My point was as far as I'm aware you can use marine red for plant as long as it's not used on the highway, It's possible that on a commercial basis there is some means for regulation, but not as far as I'm aware and I really can't see how 'they' can enforce what fuel is used in a non regulated environment. (eg if I was operating my tank or old tractor in my field (if I had either :embarrassed:) I would be very surprised if HMRC could or would be able or want to dip my fuel) Certainly we use marine red for our plant (admitedly they are boat hoists and forklifts) and we have HMRC on site on and off for a number of reasons including collecting the fuel declaration forms boat owners are now obliged to complete and from time to time dipping tanks and nothing's come to light yet.
  16. True Not True...just increasingly dificult to find Again Not True With ref the last point, in general if you know you won't be operating it on public highways you can use red... you can use old socks and jellyfish if you can get them to burn.
  17. Well that's the next 3 years raffle prizes taken care of. JOKE...IT'S A JOKE!
  18. I can't add any more as I was going to mention the ones at Walton on Naze too. I used to sail around, up to and clamber over them as a yoof in my Mirror dinghy...aah halcyon days. Seems ages ago, well 25 years ago but a blink of an eye for the barges.
  19. I don't know if anyone can help or remember, someone (around last Nov) posted a link to a Flickr album of War & Peace pics including some rather smart panoramic shots of which I downloaded one to show some mates, I have completely forgotten who took them or the page/post they were linked in can anyone remember as I'd love to ask the photographer if I could aquire a high res version to have printed for a freind. This is the pic I downloaded at the time if it helps stir anyone's memory
  20. As always...fantastic looking models. Heck...stripping and repainting that amount of detail with everything in place must be a right royal pain in the bum:shocked:
  21. Does that front offside wheel look a bit on the 'huh' to anyone else?
  22. Neil, do you mean these, they're quite commonplace and only a couple of squids each, we have them in our chandlery
  23. A bit quiet at work...on and off, and having discovered the joy of Lego Digital Designer (I have a 5y/o boy so it's completely justified you understand...honestly) I thought it must be quite easy to recreate some modern armour it being all straight lines and 45' angles nowadays...first effort was a Cougar APC I thought what it really needs is another axle to turn it into a Mastiff sort of... and of course to really finish things off, some RPG bar armour would look tidy smart... The real joy is that one can order them on line to build at home, but at about £50 each I'll have to think about it:cool2:
  24. I didn't get a video but I did get a couple of pics...
  25. A lovely DC3 gently cruising overhead just now at home Nr Framlingham Suffolk. anyone cast any light on it?
