  1. I'd assumed it was part of the mounting! Andy
  2. Can anyone shed any light on the provenance of this ammunition catcher? I don't think it's Bren/LMG, GPMG perhaps? Andy
  3. It's in my diary! :-) Andy
  4. I was in an ROC Nuclear Reporting Centre at RAF Andover for a while and have never seen these. We used to draw symbols backwards in chinagraph on a vertical perspex map board. Andy
  5. Some sort of level indicator, perhaps? Andy
  6. Are the red and blue anything to do with hot and cold? Andy
  7. I know it's just business as usual, but it was an amusing coincidence to be behind a Challenger 2 driving through Bovington yesterday and then a Bulldog through Bordon this morning! Andy
  8. Yes, they were buried to protect the Spitfires .... Andy
  9. Ok then, is B something to do with the 'flu? Andy
  10. Is B something to do with NBC precautions? And I'm assuming D is the food preparation one? Andy
  11. The 432 manuals are in the public domain - try searching in this forum! Andy
  12. Blowing a gale down here in Portsmouth again .... Andy
  13. Looks like you need some more meaty batteries! :-) Andy
  14. Is not the legal proof of deactivation the presence of one of the two authorised UK proof house marks? A certificate is nice but legally inadequate, methinks? Andy
  15. I've never worked on Saladins, but that "washer" in the first photo looks like a circlip to me. Carefully lever it off using a screwdriver parallel to the cable and be prepared to catch it when it flies across the workshop! Andy
  16. As the man says, it's just BS224. The paint mixing codes would probably be manufacturer-specific, anyway? This is Sigma's offering: Andy
  17. You can probably say the same for any AVRE/ARRV/BARV variants. Are there any Chieftain ARRVs around other than Mark's? Andy
  18. Very nicely done. A random thought, but you could probably have used acrylic false nail tips for those finger grips! Andy
  19. Don't worry, I've always wondered if it was deliberately obtuse to confuse those not in the know. The easiest way to remember is think that the red cross is heavy and sinks to the bottom of the white cross. Andy
  20. That was indeed what I meant! :-) Andy
