  1. I didn't know Dave's ARRV was cut up. I'll have to give him a disapproving look when I see him next. What would it have been worth as scrap? Looks like a great project Mark, I guess the Foden is for sale to go towards the fuel bill then:) Cheers Paul
  2. I've only recently tied some rope round the front of the ferret, oh and hung a canvass bucket there too. I'll get me coat
  3. shame it is on the same w/end as cobbaton, thats alot nearer for me,
  4. I don't deserve it but thanks for the encouragement!!! Cheers Paul
  5. Good stuff Rob, any photos of the finished article? Have you got any closeups too? Cheers Paul
  6. I think that is a well made and interesting point. However, I think there is thin line between acknowledging and representing what happened and trivialising it by simply dressing up as bad guys. Perhaps it depends how its done.
  7. Hi I used etch primer, then high build primer followed by everyday deep bronze green bought from cobbaton
  8. lack of prep it is, and also being in too much of a hurry and not waiting for the warmest weather, plus its a dusty environment despite my best efforts. Still, if I was starting again I would do things differently, so at least I'm learning some lessons here.
  9. There you go, you have just exposed the problem, I don't even know what that is....... high volume something, lack of knowledge and experience can slow things down. The green looked too orange peely this morning so it has to come off and the etch primer needs alot more sanding down, not happy.
  10. Thanks, its looks really good when viewed from a few paces away, goes downhill as you get closer, but then I'm my own harshest critic and learning as I go along. Cheers Paul
  11. Well, seeing as I started this in 2007, I thought its about time to get on with the job. I've done very little spray painting before and so what easier way to start than painting a green goddess. She has been getting rougher over the last couple of years being stored in a pole barn. I've done the head ghasket no its the cosmetics, not sure which is easier. Anyway the photos are of work done so far. I rollered on the etch primer which I'm kind of regretting because the finish is very orange peelish. However, I have experimented with the rear quarter near side and have found that with some sanding and lots of sprayed layers of high build primer, more sanding and then some coats of DBG things look a little better, but not as good as the original sadly. Tomorrow I will be putting on the front panels and doing the rest of the primer, but the weather is looking a bit wet to be ideal, but I only have two days before she has to leave the shed and make way for industry.
  12. I'd agree with the both of the above. Fuel is the first guess, takes quite a while to get fuel up into the carb at the best of times if it hasn't been started for a while, even a couple of weeks. Check the spark, is it weak or non existant? Sorry if teaching granny to suck eggs here. Let us know more detail and we can help. If you want to see one up and running you are welcome to pop over the boarder and visit. Cheers Paul
  13. I've just put CCTV in at work, makes you feel a bit better but it wont stop the determined thief. However, what it does do is make you a harder target than, say, next door. I think you should put the sign up, don't give them a possible get out clause, just don't make it too conspicuous and it can be a deterent in it's own right. Do you need a sign saying covert cameras in operation? That might work as a further deterent.
  14. Hi Thats the dash out of such greats as ferret and saracen etc , also champ I think Cheers Paul
  15. wow, with that many around I wonder how much they are making, is waiting a year to buy a mistake or will there be lots of fodens around by then?
  16. yep, that kind of EXACTLY answers my question thanks now I really want one,
  17. hmmm..... if I'd bothered to look at the Withams site I would have seen that they carry 15 tons. Quite like the look of the fodens and would be a project for next year so might have to hold on and see what develops.
  18. How much will one of these carry? Presumeably a saracen would be happy enough on one? Really nice toys you have by the way, Also, will a foden carry more? Cheers Paul
  19. Those side bins on the saracen don't look to bad, seen worse, also, whats up with the nose. Mine doesn't have those upward facing louvres on it. Extended engine bay? RFC? or am I being stupid? Cheers Paul
  20. I thought that was code between you and Clive Is there anything else I should look at Clive or will it be a job I'll save up for when the engine is out next? Thanks for all your help by the way Cheers Paul
  21. Might it be time for an electronic ignition system??
