  1. It would have helped if I said brake servo well worth doing and was a mod carried out by the MOD. Most owners seem to want to keep the vehicle in the spec that it was used during service any mods r usually stop gaps till they find the correct parts. Any mods that they do find to be of use end up being hidden. Not the answer you're after but you have already mentioned the basic ones battery cut off switch and the like. I'll add another and I know Ian Wallace had this idea and did it, LED replacement lights for the side, indicator and brake lights. Indicator lights required more resistance in the circuit for them to operate the flasher unit.
  2. I thought you were writing about some of the locals in this country LOL
  3. Add a servo Get rid of the fuel tap have fuel fed from both sides of the tank Seperate fuel filter added inline somewhere out of sight Change the tyres to non run flats just think four great big flywheels dragging you fwd during braking Just ideas
  4. Hi Matt, Chris has the hand generator fitted if you have that fitted the Surf sits to high. I can't find a pic of mine fitted inside
  5. Where can you buy the exhaust end plates like the Ferrets from? I would like to have a go at making one or two or more likely ask a friend to weld one up for me.
  6. You wouldn't be suggesting that all that lovely black heat resistant paint will dissapear on the first run Did it?
  7. Its up to the owner of the vehicle what they ware. I personaly don't appreciate looking at someone in uniform if there trying to portray a 19 year old whilst looking like a member of Grandads Army. Now as I'm not far from knocking on the door of 40 I'm even less inclined to try and look like I was twenty years ago. I don't mind waring a green t-shirt and some vaguely looking combat camoed trousers but thats where I draw a line.
  8. try this one http://www.funny-games.biz/kill-the-wabbits.html
  9. That's so sick but I like it! 856.3 three or four hits on the mines
  10. Sorry I'll keep quiet next time honest!
  11. Kit form would be the best way to go I was going to draw the centre bin up just hadn't had the time. How would you go about making the lids up for the bins would you simplify them and remove the rust traps?
  12. Stripping the paint off will expose whether the hatch has been modified with a grinder. Aden and Northern Ireland stand as two likely candidates for bin removal more likely than not for a similar reason IED's / mines.
  13. Do Withams still show the results of the last tender? If they do that should show how much they went for but it won't have the tax included in the fee 15% on top of the highest bid. Tax reverts back to 17.5 in the new year.
  14. They will fit a Ferret for starters and they could also fit Saladins & Sarcens?
  15. Mine come off I might try loctite on the threads when it warms up a bit! Its a bit cool at the moment ...
  16. Hi Chris, You shouldn't need thread sealant as the copper washer should seal the oily stuff in and hold the plug in place. You could use a thread sealant on the the extension tube where it meets the housing. I suspect cleaning the thread might be interesting as a thread locker / sealant will want a clean surface to adhere to.
  17. I've used paraffin in the cookers for a while now but I'll try diesel in one of them and see if it works any better. You don't mean the No.12 diesel cooker do you? Great piece of kit better than the other two by a long shot!
  18. Matt I couldn't get the hull number of the third one not much point either didn't know the army reg! Andy
  19. Peter Few more pics here http://www.ferret-fv701.co.uk/other_variants.htm
  20. Hi Chris, Its the big brass one No.17. Hopefully some of the others might be of use as well Andy
  21. The better one of the two seemed to be the one without all the stuff piled up in the back can't remember the lot number
  22. Would be interested if you were on this side of the world, hate to think what P&P would be!
  23. A few pics taken at Withams today the MK2/7 has the reg numbr 06eb51 and looked to o.k inside, not perfect the engine compartment was absolutely full of cobwebs. The MK 4 looked to be more complete inside, the reg was 01da30 and the front tyre was flat no valve stem in sight. Both have the browning mount installed and both have birds nests on board as well for good measure. Andy
