  1. I sooo want one of those tickets to fly - it would be a dream come true!! But alas out of my price reach unless by some miracle I find a job... I see nearly all the cockpit seat have been sold already!
  2. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's Lancaster will be visiting the UK in August this year and carrying out a series of events in concert with the BBMF's one - for perhaps the last time ever people will be able to see two Lancasters flying together!! Full story here: http://www.raf.mod.uk/news/archive/raf-bbmf-to-host-canadian-warplane-heritage-museum-lancaster-during-visit-to-england-24022014
  3. Box on the back wall is, I think the crew intercom set - ICB-3 I think. I promised some one a while ago I would dig out my installation manual and copy it (scan it) - still trying to find the damned thing!! The 353 and DMU both mount onto an anti-vibration mount that bolts to the 4 pads on the angled side of the hull just cab side of the steering levers for the Dowty jets. Power take-off from the vehicle system is the small box under the window on the commanders side.
  4. Windows 8 "can" be good - primary issue is it was written for touch screen applications such as tablets, phones and the latest generation monitors. I get the feeling from what I've read on it the classic input methods were very much an after-thought! We have two laptops here running Windows 7 and- touch wood - we've never had any issues with them other than a slowing down when old software is used in compatibility mode. If I were to switch OS's on a machine only used for business applications then I would be seriously thinking of going to Linux and the Open Office suite. Solves a lot of the virus problems in one swoop!! :-D :-D
  5. Insurance Brokers and Insurance Companies can be worlds apart at times.... No names mentioned - I had all my vehicles insured with one of the more well-known brokers for a couple of year before buying the OT-90. When I tried to add it to my policy the broker told me flat out "our insurance company won't touch tracked vehicles" - so I went else where with all my little fleet. Got a better quote from another broker even with the OT so went with them and when I got the paperwork through - lo and behold - it was with the same insurance company!! I think the Brokers impose their own arcane set of rules for quoting which are unique to each brokerage.....
  6. AFAIK - Jolley are the only ones who do a kit to fit the sheilded distributors used in things like FFR Landies, Stolleys and the like, But if your MW is a 12v standard type (sorry for the ignorance!) then I would have though any kit that fits inside the distributor would be OK??
  7. I'd like the personalized version too. Not being at all artistic I am making the big assumption you could start out with a base sketch of -say - an 109 soft top and add the bonnet mounted spare, wing boxes and side mounts for an FFR as well as the front bumperettes and bridging plate??? Maybe if supplied with a front 3/4 view by an owner you could modify such a base sketch to replicate the actual vehicle?
  8. I'm still running on - dare I say it - 64 bit Vista! Or Solaris 8 depending on which I/O button my finger lands on!!
  9. I rather like it - unusual - and big by the looks of it in comparison to the people around it!!
  10. I kid you not - this footage was apparently discovered recently and shows the 12 man crew of a B29 being rescued by a US submarine in the pacific. What are the odds on an ocean that big of a friendly submarine being in the same place a B29 crew was forced to bail out and watch their plane crash??? http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid34762914001?bctid=672454611001
  11. Ohhh - I would love to have that one !!! Anyone remember the (in)famous Mythbusters method of removing concrete from inside structures???
  12. McAfee is good, one of the originals. in the business. We used to use it when I worked in Ford Motor Co's IT division. Norton is as good - but an awful system resource hog. Install this and odds are your PC will get slow immediately afterwards - I wouldn't recommend it. If you are looking for an alternative to McAfee - or in addition to - then I suggest taking a look at AVG's product. They used to do a free and a paid for version - not sure if they still do the free one or not but all the machines here at home have it and we've never had a virus go undetected. Have a look here - www.avg.com/gb-en/download
  13. Was this not a problem back then with all steel? I seem to recall a program on TV regarding how the Titanic went down and the "experts" believed part of the problem was that the steel plates where the berg hit hit split rather than vent/buckled thus exacerbating the problem??
  14. You'll need to be for the estimated prices shown here: http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/all-lots.cfm?SaleCode=LC14&search=&category=Cars&year=&make=&model=&collection=&day=&order=runorder&noreserve=&feature=&stillforsale=&grouping=&rowsperpage= It's the auction site for the Littlefield collection. Rather confusing though as it says there are 108 vehicles for sale - but only 18 are shown - and I think the photo for Lot No. 43 may just be the wrong one!! :wow:
  15. I envy him being able to do this as well Degsy - just wish I lived close enough to be able to volunteer there. Must be a hell of an experience to drive a WW1 tank compared even to Johns own Valentine, let alone modern kit.
  16. So was my Dads brother (my uncle) - all we know is he completed his operational tour...... Exact opposite of Dad who was tall and thin - uncle was very short and stocky.
  17. Now you just need the massive bank balance to buy one of these !!
  18. Is that no tracked vehicles attending Tim?? Or just no tracked vehicles in the lake???
  19. Put me down provisionally please Dave - depends on having the ££'s for fuel.
  20. Yes - my goof there Richard - teach me to read forums when tired - apologies to all for that...... :red: :red: Mixing up OM numbers with SAE numbers and order numbers - doh!!!!!! :red: :red:
  21. Just as a thought - where did the master cylinder come from Dave? Original or replacement?? AFAIK all the FV6xx series used the OM10/11/13 oils for braking systems so is it possible you had the wrong seals in the cylinder????? If it were the wrong oil I would have expected problems right through the system including the wheel pistons........
