  1. I think if were a German Tiger then a recovery crew would be en-route complete with a heavily armed squad of mercenaries - there would be that much profit in it!!
  2. Thanks for the clarification - reason I asked is I've only ever seen AFS vehicles looking like this: http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p311606506/hF6D4521#h6115b6f Always good to learn something new!! :cheesy: :cheesy:
  3. Is the Critch event definitely off this year then?? I keep hearing conflicting stories....
  4. Quick - and crazy - question folks!! Is a vehicle required to have a passenger side windscreen wiper for the MoT?? Long story short - the splined adapter on my Series 3 Landie started slipping the other day and the grub screw that locks it onto the wheel box shaft is rusted solid. I got a new adapater - but it is a later one with squared drive whereas my Landie has the early wheel boxes with round shafts so I need to get the new ones I have bored out to be a clearance fit on a 1/4" dia shaft. I went to tax it on-line tonight only to find the MoT ran out 2 days ago (I looked at the wrong Landrover MoT - it was the P38's I checked) so hence the question. If I do not need to have the passenger side wiper on and working I can get it MoT'd in the next day or so - if not I have to wait for some bored out adapters to arrive from a friend.
  5. Lovely vehicle!! Are you sure about the AFS part though?? Only this one has a cupola whereas AFS vehicles normally had a solid roof with the twin lights front and centre.....
  6. TWO batteries?? There are FOUR in the back of mine - dirty great big things!! :wow:
  7. Silly question perhaps - but - what stops you driving it????
  8. Kraz are a bit on the specialized side so you might have more luck asking questions over the dedicated Russian Truck forum - you can find it here: http://www.russianmilitarytrucks.com/phpBB3/index.php
  9. From what I gather in the media reports is seems as of the 1st April this year the 40 year exemption from the road tax becomes a rolling one again. Great news for me as next year my Landie qualifies for tax exempt status now!!
  10. Sad news Lee and Ian - the bash was a great show with a relaxed happy atmosphere. I, for one, will miss it and look forwards to seeing what the two of you can come up with for 2015!!
  11. The good and the bad: I sent off an electronic query to DVLA 4 days ago asking how to obtain the correct age related registration for my Landie (it is registered as of date of being cast, not built) and how to change taxation class if/as and when the Chanclellor brings the tax free status forwards enough that mine qualifies. The replies thus far have been quick but odd. In my query I gave them the chassis number and the current registration number plus the build dated certified by the Heritage Trust at Gaydon thinking that is all they would need to review the questions in hand. Their first reply a day later asked for the colour and engine size??? I replied to this with the information required and got a reply back again a day later with the explanation of how to change the taxation class and what farms where needed/where to down-load them BUT the quoted their records as having the vehicles build date as 31/12/1975 whereas the actual build date is 17/12/1974 - slightly different!! They also did not answer the question how to obtain an age related plate, so I have replied restating this question and advising them their records are in error, attaching a scanned copy of the certified copy of a factory record. Now to see how long this reply takes and what their answer will be. So - in a nutshell - their answers to electronic queries seem to be pretty fast but on the same scale of usefulness as Micrsofts at times!!!
  12. Maybe time to talk to Trading Standards or a similar organization as - on your experience - the DVLA process is not fit for use.???
  13. Very, very, very nice!! And a novel spare wheel mount too!!
  14. Does anything involving the "B" word work as Landrover meant it to??? We won't talk about wiper adapters for the Series 3 here !!
  15. Mine is due in May - their quote is already substantially less than I paid my existing insurer last year so anything else saved will go into the OT's diesel fund
  16. Think you've got the wrong person Tony :-) I'm Neil and there are no airport plans in the pipeline for sunny Dagenham. Worst we had at one point was a high security nick on Rainham marshes for the worst of the Islamic extremists.
  17. Interesting! I spoke with Cherished Value today to get a pre-renewal quote. Figure they came back with was almost half that I paid last year to Footman James for the same levels of cover. Chap I spoke to was totally switched on - even knew what an OT-90!!. Took all my details and said he had to check with another department because of the declared epilepsy - rang me back 3 hours later with the quote. Guess where I'll be going when my policy comes up for renewal in May... :-D
  18. Do not get me started on DVLA and it;s sister organization from hell - VOSA!! :-( :-( :-(
  19. Virgin works fairly well if you live in one of their areas of coverage. Only thing to beware of - as we found last year - was "over eager" sales people signing up customers in an area and overloading the local hub! Which can then escalate into delays in getting additional power feeds in from the local electricity company as well as UPS configurations. They got it sorted though and we now get approx 100 Gb
  20. And the leading light of this is the leading light of the clean air campaign.. Wow - what a surprise. Moral of the story seems to be if you aren't rich then move out of the M25 ring..... :-( :-( :-(
  21. More usually after the first trip to the filling station!!!
  22. Then that should make my renewal interesting as the OT also does not have a registration plate, only a hull number. And I read elsewhere FJ don't like the vehicle not kept at home now - the OT is nigh on 60 miles away, the Stollie is about 10 miles away..... Look like I will be jumping ship too this year. Apparently Cherished Vehicles allow a "mix and match" of vehicle types so I may well pull my classic Saabs too and have them all on one policy,
