  1. What about electrons?? Seem to recall you running out of those too on a fair few occasions!! :-D
  2. Out of curiosity - what about noise level and ear protection when using a needle gun/scaler?????
  3. Cheers Lee :-D Nick from Trappers will be there too plus some of the Red Alliance Team UK members. We're going to try some synchronised swimming (or sinkng) in the lake.... :cool2: Sorry to hear you've done the back in again - do you need a hand in moving next week? Tied up this week in getting stuff sorted for Wicksteed but will be free after.
  4. How about "The Pink (cushion) Baron"????? :cool2: :cool2:
  5. No - never seen a CET in the water... Could never understand why so many NATO vehicles were said to be amphibious - BUT - needed extra kit fitted and a lot of time to be able to do so.
  6. Or two to take you for an improptu bath!! :-D :-D Looking at mine the other day I reckon the lake will turn brown as it is still caked in W&P mud from last year!!
  7. He'll be a lot less impressed if you try it below 100 feet Jack..... :-D
  8. Are you just looking for tank driver/owners in general? Or those who use tracked vehicles to rumble around town in??
  9. Sounds like a master plan to me :-)
  10. True - but the BRDM also comes with a few more toys to keep you occupied with (not really biased am I!!) :cool2:
  11. Other thing to consider is ease of access!! If you are of the larger persuasion like me then the turreted ferrets are a PITA to get in and out of. The BRDM is a bit harder to get into as its a climb up job rather than a climb on like the Ferret but once inside there is more room and the driving position can be adapted if necessary with a bit of engineering know-how. As for the spares issue - once sorted Warsaw Pact stuff does not seem to break as easily as it's Western counterparts or need as much specialised maintenace - probably due to being over-engineered to be conscript proof.
  12. Finally managed to get hold of a 9x9 for the Landrover - from e-Bay of course. Its in Pontypool though and I am not free to travel that far for a few weeks. I asked the seller if he's wrap the two package's (tent canvas/pegs etc in one and poles/knuckles in the other) to which he was agreeable so that I could get a courier to collect. Now I find no courier will collect after 15:00 or on a Saturday morning..... Which is when the seller will be home. So - does anyone live close to Pontypool who would be able collect it for me and who will be in/have some one in during the day time between 09:00 and 15:00 when the courier firms will collect it for delivery to me??? If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!!!!!!
  13. I looked at the HTC range when it was time to chop in my awful Blackberry model Clive. the gent in the Vodafone store showed me the HTC and the Galaxy S2 - both were free upgrades as I have a contract. What swung it for me was the amount of internal memory available on the S2. Not looked back or regretted the choice once. I like the Android system - more open than the Apple IPhone thus more free apps.....
  14. Oi!! I resemble that remark sunshine!!! I'm not slightly mad at all - I'm totally insane!! Well done on the purchase. - good to see the forwards bilge pump is working ok (around 1:35 on the video there are spurts of water visible). Once you start playing they will have to prise you out of the drivers seat to eat and sleep!!
  15. The "new" home of the OT-90 is holding one of it's annual open days this coming Sunday, May 19th. Mainly preserved buses and trains but a few green machines are there in addition to my OT; there is a Ferret in the main hanger and a Mk 1 Stolly, Pig and Mk1 Militant in the workshops next door. Should be a nice day out if you also like buses and model railways with the added bonus of the Colne Valley preserved railway literally just own the road. See http://www.yeldhamtransportmuseum.co.uk/ for details,
  16. It's not just the unaware ones but the other class of idiot who think it funny to pull out in front of 40 year old + vehicles. On the way up to Landrovers 65th the other weekend I lost count of the fools who pulled out to turn right blocking the road in front of me and sat there laughing or, on motorways, who screamed past then virtually did a 90 deg turn onto the slip road exiting the motorway. Time I got to my destination I seriously felt like grabbing hold of the next idiot and pointing out - rather forcibly - that a 40 year old vehicle does not give a damn about how rich they/their daddies are thus how flash their vehicles are, what ethnicity they are or what deities name they scream out (usually one starting with "A") - a Landrover weighing x tons moving at y speed will always require z feet to stop in because the only thing it gives a damn about are the elemental laws of physics. ABS, ESP and all the other TLA' s weren't even invented when the Landies wheels first turned in anger. And if some one is stupid enough to block the road and laugh then the big red towing pintle on the front of the bumper is quite capable of performing the same function as the ram on the front of a Graeco-Roman warship whilst the Landie itself pre-dates crumple zones - unlike theirs so if it hits them they get the "go direct to morgue" card with no chance of paradise and/or 72 virgins or whatever their belief system offers as an afterlife.........
  17. Proof marks are there Tony. I thought that, in such a case the proof house would check the deac and re-issue a deac cert based on the presence of those marks against the observed status for the age of the weapon. i.e. if the weapon was done prior to the change in rules it would be certified against the old rules rather than the new. If they are going to want it butchered to suit the <censored> politicians then I'll stick with the proof marks only.
  18. Thanks chaps!! I admit to being pleasantly surprised as, given the UK's usual reaction towards deact's I fully expected a resounding No as the answer :-) I will talk to the proof house in London (need to do that anyway as the deac cert for my SLR is missing) and see what they say.
  19. OK experts - I've been asked a question am unsure of the answer to it. Is it possible for/what stops an EU dealer deactivating a weapon to the correct UK specification and sending it direct to either the London or Birmingham proof houses for certification so that the customer can collect from the proof house?? I'm guessing, knowing the absurdity of the UK these days, there will be a reason why - but I've been asked to ask the question so....... :cheesy:
  20. Part of the fun on the exercises was trying to stop the SOXMIS personnel from seeing things they weren't supposed to see without actually intercepting them which- of course - was strictly forbidden...... It was amazing, though, how road closures would pop up just as the SOXMIS types thought they were closing in on things like mobile Elint units....
  21. Missed you down there Lee!! Met up with a lot of familiar faces though and had a good time, the bread pud in the cafe was the usual excellent quality!! The new venue looks better every time thanks to all the hard work being put in. For those interested here are a few photos I took which I've tried to marry up to the published map. http://s34.photobucket.com/user/ArtistsRifles/slideshow/War%20and%20Peace%20Revival%20Show%202013/Open%20Day%20-%20May%2011th
  22. Where is the stage and pole for the dancing girls (once we rescue them from the Dutch contingent)??????
  23. Not certain as I've not looked closely. I'll have a nose whilst I am up at Solihull this week.
