  1. The car is a Ford WOA2 and the date of 1942 would follow. Production started in July 1941 so this is one of the first batch (Contract V3936). The RAF roundel was used at the time as an Aircraft recognition symbol. Interesting detail is the Bridge plate painted onto the L/H wing, instead of the R/H side. Do you have any other WOA2 photos, and can I have a good copy of this photo for my records, please? Many thanks.
  2. If it's any help, I know that Ford in Dagenham used Beech frequently in their vehicles. There are several pieces in my WOA2.
  3. Just a bit about logos. I used to work for Vodafone. The word is made up from Voda meaning New and Fone meaning phone. Saatchi and Saatchi thought it up. Just thought you might like to know that - might be useful in a Pub Quiz.
  4. Update 18:00 31st Dec 2008 The local Shell Petrol station to me has just reduced Petrol to 82.9p a litre.
  5. Cost cutting on the new Thunderbirds film was beginning to show.
  6. This is just a comment to all - This Christmas if your friends/relatives give you large quantities of Soap/Shower Gel/Deoderant, are they trying to tell you something?
  7. MV - Going to Weymouth Veterans and giving a lift to one of the Veterans for the parade. Home - Having a Grandaughter on 28th August.
  8. A Radio controlled Dalek, which my dog hates, and some Dad's Army DVDs and books. My Christmas this year was dominated by my Grandaughter Elizabeth as it is her first Christmas, and was spoilt for presents by all.

    Photo wanted

Thanks for that, I enjoyed it. The reason for the Rat picture is to do a 'Know your Enemy' poster for my Dog's kennel at Beltring next time. Just a little humour.
  10. This is a long shot, but has anyone got a photo of a Rat (the grey kind) in a WW2 German Uniform? I just need it for a joke poster I am trying to make up (nothing commercial). The recent photo of a Squirrel in US uniform prompted this idea. Many thanks.
  11. Last night (18th Dec 2008) the local ASDA in Lower Earley put it's petrol down to 85.9 a litre. Cheapest I've found locally in Reading.
  12. I noticed some Ford V8 vehicles in the photos, both car and truck.
  13. My Daughter has just told me that Asda in Greenhithe, Kent is selling unleaded for 87.9p a litre.
  14. I saw a cartoon in a wartime magazine once that showed a scene identical to the photo. The caption was "Here's one that was damaged in combat".
  15. I think we have just got the last of the Beltring mud off now.
  16. I was talking to the owner of the Lancaster cockpit at W&P this year. He said that this was the last year for displaying the cockpit as H&S had 'requested' he cover all the interior with padding incase children injure themselves.
  17. OK, thanks for that. Now the question is, why has Petrol not gone down when VAT was reduced? Or is that a silly question...............
  18. Come the revolution, Bruvvers....... (Anyone remember Wolfy in 'Citizen Smith'?)
  19. Question Do we pay VAT on Petrol in the UK as well as all the other taxes? I thought we did, and I hadn't seen the prices come down when VAT was reduced. Can anyone advise me, please?
  20. OK, try to think of it this way.... 1. It's hereditary, so it was bound to happen one day. 2. I think it makes me look more distinguished. 3. Knowledgeable Professors have receeding hair, so why shouldn't I? 4. It's all the fault of the HMVF website giving me stress. Jack - Have you thought of wearing a hat?
  21. OK, a little humour to make you smile. I went on a Coach holiday to Italy a few years ago with my family. Most of the people on the coach were old, nealy all in their 70s-80s. I was one of the youngsters, in my early 50s at the time. We were given a tour of Rome, and one comment from the guide was "Have you all heard of Mussolini?"
  22. If you look at this Video clip on the BBC News website, there is an RAF Standard Van in the beginning. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7767200.stm
  23. If you mirror the disks you can take a back-up from the mirrored disk by taking it off-line so you don't have to take the system down. The only reason to take the system down is to run a back-up of the system disk when you reboot in minimum config.
  24. One of those 'Jeeps' is a British Ford WOT2. Also spotted a Dodge Ambulance being called a Jeep.
  25. Reasons to be cheerful :- 1. It's my Grandaughter Elizabeth's first Christmas, and she and her Mum and Dad (My Eldest Daughter) will be joining us for Christmas Dinner. My Wife (Granny) has already got the tree and decorations on the go, and the bib with 'Baby's First Christmas'. Elizabeth will be at Beltring next July, and we are all very much looking forward to it. 2. VAT has just come down, and I can now afford that new camera for Christmas, so I can take photos of my new Grandaughter.
