  1. Ian, I was wondering if it was designed for use with bikes
  2. It would look perfect behind your MV
  3. Haven't got any pumps or Metafilters for it have they?
  4. Perfect weather for today's run to London. A few photos of MV related entrants
  5. A new event that is good to support. Organised by some of the team that used to run the excellent show at Ardingly. I plan to attend in the Jeep with one of the lightweight trailers.
  6. Welcome! Good to see you on here. A restoration thread of the Tilly would be popular, and you'll find you get a number of helpful suggestions and comments. See you on the St Georges Day run Cheers
  7. I'm pleased to say that both of these bowser tanks have now found new homes and will be used to build 100 gallon Lightweight Water Bowsers. The first went to Richard in UK last year, the second was also quickly sold to Paul in USA and was shipped out today:
  8. Having enjoyed restoring the MUREX Welder, I found that I only really needed 3 trailers and have sold it to a very keen collector of British WWII equipment in the USA. Today it went off the shippers, appropriately towed by the same V8 LR that recovered it 3 years ago. I hope in due course Paul will eventually post up some photos of it at a shows and displays in the US on this thread:
  9. The joint organisers of this year’s Combined Ops show are pleased to announce that they have come to an agreement for Headcorn Special Events to take over the show. With the continuing rise in popularity of the Combined Ops Military and Aviation Show held at Headcorn Aerodrome in August it has become increasingly difficult for The Invicta Military Preservations Society (IMPS) to be able to find sufficient volunteers who can devote the necessary time and resources to form an organising team. Therefore an agreement has been reached whereby Headcorn Special Events (HSE) will take over the IMPS side of the show. By bringing all the organising and running of the show under one roof it will make its operation more efficient and will ensure its success in the future. Whilst IMPS regrets having to withdraw from assisting with the organisation of the show, as the co-operation between the two organisations has been very close over the past 8 years, and has delivered a very successful and popular attraction for the public, they feel this agreement will ensure the show’s continued success. There will still be a show at Headcorn Aerodrome on the 13th and 14th August this year, with air displays and military attractions similar to the past Combined Ops Shows, and IMPS members will continue to receive all the benefits previously accorded to them. More information regarding this year’s show will be announced as it becomes available, or you can contact Headcorn Special Events via their website: www.headcornevents.co.uk Headcorn Aerodrome & Invicta Military Vehicle Preservation Society
  10. Ha ha! I'm waiting for someone to point out all the screw slots are not in line!
  11. How much? :wow: Still, I suppose that is just the price of half a horse re-shoe......
  12. Apparently the C60L sold yesterday for 2.5 times the price it had been on the open market for ages....and not previously sold. All seems very strange. Perhaps Nigel Hay will elucidate in next months CMV magazine.
  13. Quite a long article/interview in latest CMV magazine with John Allison about his plans for W&PR, so he has clearly decided where to spend his time and effort to get his message out. Makes very interesting reading, by tone as much as what is actually said. But I expect will not make all on here happy (as if that was ever possible ). He was at Malvern in the autumn answering questions, so am sure he and his team will be at Stoneleigh too.
  14. A sad reminder to all of us who work by/under vehicles: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-35238029
  15. Note please readers: Having assisted with the original fitting of several parts including the engine back into the chassis....I was not involved in this little incident! Anthony: that is unfortunate. I doubt that this will braze back together very well. I would say try one of the very good modern 2-part metal glues as you have clean breaks, but know that pulley is under quite a lot of tension so don't know how well it would hold together in use. I reckon you best option is to get a replacement pulley (modern aluminium will look very similar once painted.
  16. Yes, I saw that. Quite common aren't they? Its the 100 Gallon version I'd like to see.....:cool2:
  17. I've been watching several of these very interesting Newsreel clips on Youtube. Lots of good views of CMPs, but one that really attracted by attention was No 54: At 8mins 30s there is a short clip of a Cab 13 C60s Wrecker. This is the first WWII period film of have seen of these vehicles....just thought other owners would also be interested to see one on the move in Italy.
  18. Ian, They are clearly quite common then? I thought it was mad to make a special spanner with 180 Gallon on it....but to make another one for the 200 gallon bowsers really is " surprising"! Perhaps a specail lightweight version was made for the 100 Gallon bowsers :-D.
  19. I've seen that the new website is working and applications can now be made online or you can print off and send an entry. There are several changes that I can see. One being the flat fee of £10 per application towards toilets etc for campers (including established IMPS members). Also, if applying for the free IMPS tickets for multiple vehicles, every driver has to be an established IMPS member. You have to upload a photo of your vehicle/vehicles, so worth having one of reasonable size ready when starting to complete form. Talking to the organisers at Malvern on Sunday, entrants planning to enter more than 3 vehicles/trailers/bikes are probably better phoning them direct as the online system only allows three MVs to be registered. Anyway, I managed to complete it all online. The new website is here: https://warandpeacerevival.com/ Military Vehicle booking here: https://warandpeacerevival.com/military-vehicles/
  20. Would you like to borrow a suitable torque wrench?
  21. Well, after a couple of email contacts with DVLA, I've had this reply today: "Dear Mr Corden Thank you for your email received on 9/11/15. It may help if I explain that there is currently a technical issue with the online and telephone services not recognising where a pre 1960 vehicle is MOT exempt. This is being investigated. In the meantime, you will be able to tax the vehicle at the Post Office with either the V11 reminder or the V5C Registration Certificate. I apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience with this matter. Do not reply to this email. If you wish to contact us again about this response then please use our Reply Form" So not a new requirement, just a DVLA IT glitch......
