  1. Here's a picture, apearantly some of the first contracts of G3L's had them too. I'll do my best coming wednesday, but do remind me, never been so bizzy! Lex
  2. Ah, I'll find a picture, I'll be there again on Wednesday, then I can buy one, or maybe 2. Lex
  3. Note that the G3WO had a different gear lever than the G3L, I think Ron's is ok, but there should be a big round boss behind the rubber, I had one in my hands last monday, but didn't buy it. Lex
  4. That style of ignition was used after the war for export engines (to Sweden and Belgium), and some sort of generator, so deffo not wartime as Ron said. Lex
  5. OK, I'm sure it will look good, and protect the cable. Lex
  6. Nice!! is it square stock, like the originals?? G3's seem to have used a little tube?? it may be the picture though that makes it look like a tube? Lex
  7. Yes most 7/8" clamps and levers initially used the same castings, so it should be posible to machine them out, I made a special fixture for that, to modify various bits and pieces. I do remember I found you some stuff Ron, but then lost it again, so I might still have a set, but where??? Lex
  8. They are difficult, and I looked for them when parts hunting last monday, but nothing yet! I do have a spare of the little lever, but nothing else, think Ron got my last complete one? Cheers, Lex
  9. Steve, Nice work!, but make sure when the wheel is in the front forks, check the brake achor lip, if just touching the forks (where the bolt goes through), it's OK, but if there's a gap, use a washer as a shim, if too tight, you have to bend the lip back a hair, sometimes this happens, and you don't want the whole brake plate to be crooked and under tension. Lex
  10. Yes, think it's a very good idea, better one very original bike, than 2 "bitza's" Lex
  11. That's exactly as the factory tool, there was a company here in Holland that made all the tools lasercut them, but they stopped doing it, when I'm near there, I'll try to get the DFX files from them, so I can have it done myself. Lex
  12. Ron, that's the second type I think, I still have some of the earlier ones, they are a yellow can, stinks awfully, so must be good! Lex
  13. Ok, I used 2 pack silver, and 2 pack varnish, but this was over 10 years ago, so don't know what I used at the time, but it is still on there! It's gone a bit yellow though. Think any good 2 component paint will work. Lex
  14. Nice work Steve!! let me know which gear you need, have some NOS ones, but first gear is lower on the G3L's. Cheers, Lex
  15. Yes, that's the right one! Civilian 1946 G3L's also had them fitted, but they are rarer than G3's, I got quite a few from Alan, but nothing left, maybe Jan borrowed one of my originals? I can't remember anymore. An alternative is to search for a 1948-1949 one, with the central mounting bolt, and modify that one, the main shape is the same. Not even the Indians make these as far as I know. Good luck, Lex
  16. Sorry, all gone, but they could be the same as 1946-1948 G3L's? Cheers, Lex
  17. Used to have NOS G3 engine plates, maybe a friend still has some, I will ask. Lex
  18. Nice, did you get the spindles from me? I had a quantity last year. but if you're not carefull, you'll run out of little things to rectify! Cheers, Lex
  19. Ok, no probs, maybe it's of use to someone else here. Lex
  20. I do know of a 3SW or 5SW engine for sale, in Holland, I can go after it, but it was kinda expensive I seem to remember, I'll try and find a picture I took. Lex
  21. Nice! was there no workshop repair plate left on or in the toolbox? Cheers, Lex
  22. Ok, I think I still have a FWD manual, but where? I will try to find it, but it will be best if you move this to the prewar page on the forum here, much more viewers. Cheers, Lex
  23. Ok, I have an original book printed by the SAE board in 1944, so in English, I will see if there's anything in it about track metallurgics. Cheers, Lex
  24. Ok, thanks Ron, maybe someone else can measure his rod?? (pun intended!) Cheers, Lex
