  1. I am totally floored by the quality of the replies given to this thread by some very smart people, proves how valuable it is to have the forum Robin
  2. Thanks for the info, I expect we will be seeing them come through Withams in the coming years then. Robin
  3. Dear Malcolm, no words of wisdom on the timing for you, well done on digging deep for the problem. That is called a "POST". Previous Owner Stupid Trick! Just shows how you cant take anything for granted when working on an MV. Keep going mate Robin
  4. Dear Datadawg, there is an amount of thrashing and general mechanical abuse that military vehicles in general get, the bigger and heavier the more of a consequence that has. That is why I would suggest armour is more prone to it, but I am sure others will chime in. Robin
  5. There is enough time to have passed now that someone somewhere must know a bit more about these vehicles. In short, a unit modified Land Rover 90 along the lines of the desert patrol vehicle 110 HCPU vehicles. We think there were less than 5 and may be only two ever done and they were converted back quite quickly after the war. What do you know and what can you show us please? Robin
  6. Dear Josh, welcome on board. Do you have any contact info for Dave Marion who worked at the collection and if so can you send it by pm or email please? Thanks Robin
  7. Welcome Adam from Ontario from Robin from Ontario
  8. While they may have some in stock, I would be fairly sure that they would require so many reams of legal and government sanctioned paperwork that you would find hard to obtain. Buy good track whenever you see it is a lot easier R
  9. Welcome from Ontario, Hope you find what you want Robin
  10. Ethanol fuels are evil. Drain down your orginal tank adn clean it and preserve it. Fashion an alternate supply source and quick disconnect system and secure and never look back. Civvy owners just dont do the miles to justify that big of a fuel tank. What is your aytime high to overnight low temperature swing out where you are? Honestly, junk fuel is the start of 99% of poor running problems for Ferret and CVRT and Land Rover etc owners. Robin
  11. That will be useful to many of us Thank you R
  12. welcome ferret, fox, is it the CVRW type? We have a dead one here R
  13. Dear Ron in Pennsylvania (Just below us in Canada on the map), I know both Terry B and Sirhc, even though I am in Canada, I don't own any CVR(T)s (yet), but I (try to) look after a bunch, petrol (or Gas as you would say) and diesel. I prefer the diesel, just loads more grunt without all the drama, I have a loathing for gasoline powered vehicles, it isnt the fuel it used to be, it lights up and burn way to easily. I'm still alive after a HP fuel line failure in a diesel boat that would have killed me if it was gasoline. Maintenance is key and lack of it will show, quickly. They are not a toy to keep in the barn and just hop in and go for a spin without doing a first parade. If you want to come up and look at some there are a number up here within a 3 hour driving radius from me. If you want to chat by phone send me an email. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum. Regards Robin
  14. This is a bit out of sync but it is new. My best mate Andrew Jones, on here as Batus109GS, bought me these, which are bloody amazing. Thank you very much Andrew. Will put them on next week. R
  15. Been a while but crops are in the ground and I can breath again. Had to give up my free spot under cover at work and move the truck to a mate's place. Funnily enough it was raining when I moved it there and parked it up outside his doors. The next day I went to move it inside and as we did so there was a waterfall of of fuel under the wagon and we shut it down quick sharp. Teh cascade stooped when the engine was off so we deduced it was on the high pressure side of the pump. Later in the week we went and had a look when we had time. Sure enough it was another POST (previous owner stupid trick) when they put an inline electric fuel pump in they also installed the finest quality Chinese regulator, the diaphragm has perished. Considering there is already a bypass back to the tank at the right side carb, we removed this piece of junk. Testing proved it to run fine and sweet. That drama sorted. R
  16. Welcome along Andrew aka Corporal Of Horse, For those that do not realise the 1 Tonne Andrew owns is one of only 58 made for Luxembourg and is somewhat of a rarity. R
  17. Dear Pavl, good to meet you last weekend at Aquino, thank you for helping fix the gun on the Hummer. Nice to see your work and your grit and determination in going about it. You are so blessed living where you do, weather is such a challenge for us up here in the snow climates. Some areas you are going in to are beyond where I have gone some are familiar. Once again, thanks for you help at Aquino Robin
  18. Dear Paul, welcome to the forum. Funny how you are in Luxembourg, my mate, another ex pat Brit, lives out here, and has an ex Luxembourg Land Rover 1 Tonne, one of only 58 built for them. Do you have any contacts in their military by any chance? Robin
  19. I also would like to know, somehow they look like they were crimped on at time of manufacture and were never meant to come off. Is that your suspicion also? R
  20. Welcome to the Forum. Pictures help. If you are going to scrap it then I would think many here would give you the scrap value without question. R
  21. I dont know why you think you need to put track back on it. They move quite readily and safely on the flat with a proper A frame on some roadwheels alone. You can throw some plywood down on top of a rough floor surface to save the rubber a bit. I have a complete worn set of track up for grabs if you want it. Moving a CVR(T) can be easy with some planning. R
