  1. Mike, yes those lights are what we call M series lights and were a Canadian modification, as were several other details, like the bars over top of the oil cooler to stop ham fisted galloots stepping on them and the gas cans mounted on the rear vertical armour to name but a few. Robin
  2. Call sign 31, the one on the left is actually pretty complete and will run from a gas can and a couple of batteries, which i will try to do maybe this weekend. The other has the complete pack and a large number of parts but missing some odds and sods. There are 3 crates of lose parts that I have not shown, i have been through them all and I have a mental note of some of the missing items. I had the seller remove the smoke grenade launcher tubes and pack them loose. Robin
  3. here are some more pictures and details. I thin I have mis labeled some of the pictures,C/S 31 has the power pack and controls in it, Number One is the bare hull. R
  4. So last weekend, Andrew my best mate and I took the hideous fake turret of Number One. The other Ferret is called C/S 31.
  5. Welcome Mark from another Fox driver, when she is running, in Canada R
  6. Welcome Jim, Loved the pictures of the stolly, the captions were very funny. Really liked the shot of the roof trusses being rigged into place, nice to see it earning its keep. Im just above you, so to speak, in Ontario Canada near Kingston. You should pop up some time. Robin
  7. There is Stolly in Canada in the city of Ottawa in the Province of Ontario. I know the owner quite well R
  8. So I guess the fact that Canada has not been assimilated into the USA yet, and the fact we have an M35 and and M109 (shop van not SP gun) is making ours worth a bit more? If anyone really wants one we would consie r export to UK by Ro Ro im sure Good dealer for parts is Dave Newman at Eastern Surplus, no connection, not family or brothe in law, just deal with him, honest fair chap R
  9. You could always disguise a Land Rover as a shed. . . . ya know, doesnt move under its own power used as storage. . welcome along, steal yourself for more utterly useless suggestions from people like myself! R
  10. Grand idea of the self recover over the cab, the only flaw to that idea is you would have to be attached to something higher than the cab or you would end up with cabriolet! What about a rear spade? Is that in the works? R
  11. Markus, welcome to the forum. Did all the rest of the parts you removed get thrown in the bin? If not we are interested in some of them. R
  12. I guess our Jack hasnt seen this thread yet. . . ho de ho de ho R
  13. 24volt bulbs except the British headlight bulbs are readily available off the shelf even over here in the colonies. The trick I have found is to take in the old one but NEVER tell them what its from. A switched on (nice pun eh?!!) parts chap should be able to cross reference it very quickly. A faulty switch that left the brake lights on was the cause of a no start one one of the ferrets a while ago. R
  14. Dear All, I have never met the man himself, I am merely going by the legend that is here! As we all know Jack sold his GMC a while ago. He has some kind of civvy ride these days. If we, as the Forum, were to have a whip round and skim the clubhouse coffee fund for its profits and buy him an MV, what would we buy him as an MV that befits his position as our leader and founder? I say a para folding bicycle R
  15. I have slowly been purchasing an interesting series of postcards by the above company. They cover the "modern" British Army from the '70s and possibly later. I dont know if anyone has more than I do, but here is a list with notes about the subjects. All the photos are MOD copyright so I feel uncomfortable in scanning them P123 CVR(W) 09 FD 46 fitted with swim screen and shiny deep bronze green, yellow bridge decal, unit decal on night sight, "104" on first aid box. P114 AFV 432 07 EA 83 pictured at BATUS Canada fitted with radio mast front left corner and track gurads at front, in BATUS cam scheme. Iconic picture that I have seen used in other publications. P126 WOMBAT recoiless gun, shown dismounted and ready to fire, very sure this is at BATUS again P128 BV202 22 FG 95 in black and green cam scheme on a snow covered road. P115 CVR(T) SCORPION 04 FD 27 bears "3/61" on front left corner, white triangle on turret, no track guard fitted P122 RAPIER launcher ready to fire, wheels off launcher, missiles with two yellow bands P118 LAND ROVER ambulance, judging by door hinges and bumper likely a Series 2A, BATUS cam scheme, black rectangle on right door, iconic picture used elsewhere. P125 BEDFORD MK cargo no bows or canvas loaded with gerry cans refueling CVR(T) SCIMITAR 06 FD 10 looks to be somewhere in UK P124 FH 70 (they have a typo and call it an FH 670) gun firing with impressive 3 directions of smoke from the muzzle. Taken on a sand beach somehwere that looks warm. Iconic picture used elsewhere. P127 LANCE missile launcher with missile, left rear 3/4 picture rear ramp lowered, cab raised, missile angled P113 CHIEFTAN C/S T14 in BATUS cam scheme. I know of two more postcards that I have yet to acquire of the series which are a CVR(T) SAMSON and a LIGHTWEIGHT LAND ROVER R
  16. What a sensible modification in making the snout hinged, that must make life a bit easier. Is that "restored" one a runner or just a tidy lump. R
  17. Congratulations on making the cover, we should get that issue here in the colonies by about August! R
  18. Well, Good Friday kind of went down the tube as a day off owing to minor derailments earlier in the week meant work taskings didnt get finished, so I had to finish those off before the arrival of those who this property is for. Today is planned as the day Andrew my best mate and I take a very ugly non original turret off the other Canadian Ferret I just brought back to Canada. We were supposed to have a chums quality time day. Last night Mark, a good friend called saying he had once again thrown a track on his John Deere crawler loader and despite best attempts had not managed to get it un jammed from between the drive sprocket and the casing so it sounds like this afternoon we are going to drive over (hour drive) and lend a hand and do some track bashing. Sunday is planned as a "her and me" quality time day. Back to work on monday R
  19. How can i edit a post to put in forgotten prefix? R
  20. Chaps, if looking at photos of a Bedford, apart from tracing the registration, is there any way to tell the difference between the two? Any significant distinguishing features or attached widgets? R
  21. looks mighty familiar but cant for the life of me think what it is, i know thats no help! R
  22. Brad, What shocking news! Didnt realise the locals in Nova Scotia were that restless! Defintely will keep the sticky fingered snot nosed kids away from it at car shows! R
  23. From experience using wood is good. Any kind of foam or like material is just a welcome sign for mice to turn your Ferret into a home. It is a persistent problem for us here with the storage of any vehicle unless it is in a vermin proof building taht is heated. Also don't neglect the up and down movement of the battery, arcing terminals as they slap against th top of the box is a real downer on their lifespan and your health and safety. The only time we have drilled a new hole on any vehicle was to fit a master battery off switch which has been worth its weight in gold. Robin
  24. The second Ferret I will delve into more on Saturday. Daylight hours are at a premium for work work at the moment. We plan to yank the paintball turret off this saturday and set that aside. Only then will I get inside and find out what the actual hull number is. Based on the other Ferret, the hull number previously reported on this one may not be right either. Oh well, I can retroactively sort out the documentation as required thankfully. I am just happy to have them on concrete under a roof within arms reach even if I cant start spining spanners at the moment. R
