  1. Looking for hair line cracks is best done in the dark.
  2. This is a Land Rover rear step modification kit.
  3. More fuel without extra air means black smoke. It's all about optimums, intake air filter cleanliness, air intake temperature, height above or below sea level, fuel delivery pressure, both low to the pump and high to the injectors, injection time and duration, and compression peak pressure. Then the person on the controls makes it talk or not. I only used to get 10 out of a Scania 420 auto running on 6 axles pulling a curtain sider over the hump to Manchester from the North East, It was usually fully freighted both ways. I could get 17 out of a manual ranger plus splitter 460 CF Daf running nearly the same route pulling a reefer but only on 5 axles running 38 tonnes down and 22 back. With a 420 Scania auto it was 12. With a C6SFL in a Vickers Vigor I used to use between 5 and 7 gallons per hour on dozer work, it was about the same pulling a 9/11 box. Depending on ground conditions.
  4. I did not think you would get that kind of millage running at that weight. To get a like for like comparison an identical rig with a turbo or supercharger would have to run the same route on the same day. Todays trucks use a lot of fuel running ancillary's and the exhaust system. One of the Premium's I drove would sound the warning buzzer and put stop immediately for no reason, very disconcerting while motorway driving. When I got used to It was spot a pothole and give it a run through and off it went, it was like that from new. Any C6FSL that I drove in plant got through the work but were noted for being thirsty.
  5. I used to drive a Premium artic, basically a Volvo in disguise. Always gave better fuel consumption than the equivalent FM. But the electrics were another matter. I wonder what sort of fuel consumption you are going to get out of the DT and trailer freighted up.
  6. No one thought about the fumes coming of them either. Biggest ones I poured in were the old number 4's inside of a crusher. You are putting in the hours as well, but it really is coming together now. Is that a French truck lurking in one of the pictures?
  7. There is a story about 3 Italian prisoners of war who escaped from a P.O.W. camp in Kenya, climbed one of the peaks of Mount Kenya then returned to the P.O.W. camp.
  8. Life is strange sometimes. Being ferrous is interesting.
  9. I did not want to but in when you were talking. With luck see you next year, got a new AEC hat now. Great show first time I have been.
  10. This has turned into a restoration tutorial. Meticulous work with explanation's about the tools.
  11. Just another thought regarding the missing manifest. Has anyone done a search of the Guildhall Library London for any information of the cargo.
  12. A friend has asked if these parts have any value. He thinks they are off a para bike. There are a few more bits but I cannot get the pictures across. They are from his friends fathers estate that they are clearing.
  13. Best wishes, I hope you find it a good home.
  14. It is such a shame having to part with the vehicle under such circumstances. It looks as if he took immense pride in the truck. Condolences to his family.
  15. Going from a rusty memory first thing in is a spring then separator with seals on each end opposite ways around then the first plunger with a spring over it then another seal facing in over then a circlip. But it is 40 plus years since I was inside one. It's a split system part of the cylinder works the front brakes and part works the rear brakes. All of the wheels need the brakes adjusting up correctly to get a firm pedal feel with full air pressure.
  16. You are not exporting so should not be any more problem than any other vehicle. Just take the usual box of tools and spares.
  17. Try putting Images of Bedford TK brake master cylinder schematic you should find an exploded view of the item that you are looking for.
