  1. One track mind Richard! But I'm sure there were notice boards for these. :-D
  2. Oh crumbs Alec, you are dead right. Well done!
  3. I can see what you are getting at Alec, but it is not that. These things have been used by all nations, but this particular example (& there are many variations) are British.
  4. All the correct way up :-D Not a shutter Wally, there are no moving parts. The drawing on the right is an alternative arrangement to the top of the drawing on the left. The drawing on the left shows the structure sectioned horizontally in two places so that the view is compressed as it could be rather large to get on the page. Similarly the view on the right is only the top section of the object. Both left & right views are of similar things but the mounting arrangements differ. The middle & lower sections have been omitted on the view on the right.
  5. Lauren yes it does, but appearances are deceptive it is question of scale. The pictures are actually different versions of the same sort of thing. On the left there is no concrete, it is predominantly wood. On the right wood & some concrete/brickwork, although this only shows the wood as the concrete/woodwork could be of varied dimensions.
  6. 7RU is specifically Land Rover. (Although Wolf is 7XD, 7XDW) Although in its earlier incarnation in VAOS it was LV7/RU & then it covered Rover Co Ltd. So it seems to have assumed Land Rover exclusively by default as no other Rover variants were then in service. I'm more of the fan on 9BOE
  7. I agree with you Nick it looks aftermarket, but it seems on some occasions Webers were fitted in service. Quite why I don't know. Some years ago I found a dealer (Carl & Dianne, Litchfield) selling NOS Webers in their original packaging with labels. The Domestic Management Code that preceded the NSN was 7RU. This is the DMC for Rovers. Although I have never seen any Rover fitted with a Weber in service, they were available it seems.
  8. David my understanding is that correct etiquette (rather than actual regulation) is that Pegasus should be positioned as if jumping off the side of the vehicle. Then to cater for which side of the vehicle is marked there are left & right handed versions.
  9. A nice little gem here full of intriguing detail, not to mention the chit for a shoe repair for 3/6 being used as a book mark. Yes I know what you are all thinking it is a paradox that this WO publication does not itself have a WO Registry code, but it is there but on an inner page.
  10. These are the only pictures I took. Something went a bit not quite right with the prize giving. (Although I am not sure how many winners actually received a "prize") Anyway the winner of the Dale Prior Memorial Plaque for best Hunber 1-Ton was Roger Graystone. He was apparently not on the prizewinners list although present in the arena but received no acknowledgement as a winner. Shortly afterwards I presented him with a WPR fleece kindly provided by the organisers & presented him with a brass plaque. This was a proper lump of brass & engraved both sides, that cost cost £30 each to have manufactured, so something worth keeping. As for the show itself I found it most enjoyable with no problems, although it saddened me to see such large areas of emptiness around the site with many regulars no longer attending.
  11. or even on here: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?28994-Tents-amp-Shelters
  12. Yes I did Vince, but can't remember much about it. But I think it was case of fitting a standard switch & omitting the filtering.
  13. Yup give it a go. Will have the usual range of test gear for ignition systems if anyone wants anything testing, especially reveally are insulation tests on coils, as this drops to about a tenth once hot so a high cold insulation is essential.
  14. Mike I can test your coils for insulation breakdown. This ideally needs to be done when the coil is hot as the insulation reduces to about a tenth of what it should be when cold. When cold at 5 kV the insulation should be many gigohms otherwise it will cause trouble when hot. I can do these hot & cold tests at WPR & test rotor arms etc.
  15. Sean yes I have been rumbled then! I had wondered whether any forum spotters would have seen us on the M3, M4 Thursday last week. It was a bit hairy getting that low loader up the lanes. The drop down point I chose was where stones had been filled in the ditches when they recently had to get the parts for a wind turbine on a local hill. Otherwise we would have been sunk. No, still not got a phone connection from a company that keeps cancelling my order & won't tell that they have done so. Waste an hour or two each day trying to get some sense & honesty about what is or is not happening. Just get conflicting information or they just hang up on me or disconnect from on line "chat" because the problem seems too much effort to resolve. At present at Evsham in the rain, but at least getting a strong 4G signal.:-D
  16. Spotted very early one morning in Hampshire last week.
  17. Ok thanks I'll do that, but I sent an email to the vehicle registration team on 2nd June but heard nothing back.
  18. Hi I'm wondering if you got my email with vehicle details? I've just moved to W.Wales as yet I have no phone line and no printer. Tried to follow what I thought was an online entry but just took me to a printable form. I avoided entering earlier but had no firm idea when move would happen so didn't want to enter and not turn up if it turned out to be week of move. I may have a phone line by end of week but printer is still 200 miles away. Can you help me attend please? Having to send this by walking up a hill to get a whisp of a phone signal:(
  19. Oh come off it Neil, now there will be not only more classic cars but tractors too :undecided:
