  1. Alec the capacitive coupling is just an inevitability rather than a necessity. Not an evacuated device in fact rather the opposite. Not a radiation issue.
  2. Wally not in the sense that it effects the pilot but the density of the air has an effect on the aircraft performance that this device seeks to correct.
  3. Getting a bit too deep with ideas Richard. It was a cunning system to overcome certain problems at such an altitude, rather than a warfare issue.
  4. Not a camera AF & this was in an aeroplane rather rocketry.
  5. It does looks something like that Gordon but nope.
  6. Nope Lauren this is to do with problems encountered at heights above 12km
  7. Nope Derek this very much a machine issue rather than human.
  8. Not fishy at all Richard, such a lowish voltage of 1000v was what drew me to this item, although it has been used with 3000v. Very much an up in the air issue rather than at ground level.
  9. Wally nope not that sort of thing. (Sorry for my slow responses been using a phone from the Shorland at a show. Not a great attendance 3 Jeeps, 3 bicycles & a para bike. Lot of classic cars sadly most just cleared off at 2pm, as usual the MVs stayed the longest)
  10. Lauren don't read too much into that, it was just to indicate this device itself has no windings. Of course there is some capacitance between the central electrode and the case.
  11. Wally nope but it is high altitude and associated problems although this might be used on a vehicle it didn't encounter the same problems.
  12. I think you are getting into the realms of fantasy here Lauren.
  13. It looks like that Jerry but this the business end of a very clever device that was a major breakthrough in thinking.
  14. But I didn't mention vehicles, just transport.
  15. You would think that Bernard. There is even a grant available for satellite internet where you can't get broadband or by swapping you can double your speed, but the providers I have approached seem totally disinterested in attempting to provide this service so I had improvise something myself. Although satellites seem to be predominantly in a direction screened by trees & hills. There is no phone coverage unless you have a yagi on the roof even the clocks linked to Rugby/Droitwich? periodically lose time. So not a good location for a radio amateur! On the other hand when the phone engineer who was unable to detect any useful broadband (he thought it might take about a day to send an email) said we did have a good view. Yes the only house you can see is one across the valley, so swings & roundabouts :-D
  16. Interesting with 1,000 volts Richard! But it is transport related. I think that is everyone replied to. My response time can vary as I can have no broadband connection here as we are too far from the exchange. So I am using a yagi on the roof to a 4G hub in the loft to access a mast out of sight around the corner of a hill. Access is very variable from nothing to occasionally 40mbs! If I don't respond it doesn't necessarily mean someone has got the right answer & I want to delay the announcement :-D
