  2. Clive, I, and I'm sure many other poeple would like to thank you for your time in helping Lewis because you are also helping others to keep their machines running. I have followed this post with interest and find your understanding of this subject amasing. Top man . Jim
  3. funny, I was JUST about to try myself, must be an ex ferreter or two with unwanted copies p.s Would anyone with the book, (or any other source of info) know anything of Mk 2, Military number 02DA42 (ferret)? Cheers Jim
  4. Hi Jimland74, Wow, top man , yep I find photos superior to workshop diagrams so many times, really good to have both. I've read about these hub stations and they frienden the live out of me, with, shims, dowels etc etc. Fair play to you for getting stuck in :-). How long did it take to strip the hub and are there any points to pass on, I'm sure they will be others keen to hear of your experience. Many thanks Jim
  5. arhh! thanks Richard :-) . I have studied various diagrams of wheel stations but was still left wondering how they breakdown. I presume you first remove the wheel guard to allow better access for a hoist? Cheers Jim
  6. Blimy , I had already figured it had to be very heavy and would have to be suspended and kind-of slid into place. I ask because I assume that when people with such vehicles experience a lack of drive but no wobble etc, then in order to eliminate either the bevel box or drive shafts one would have to disconnect each to ascertain where the problem was. Clearly, first one would be the prop shafts, but then,(if the dowels are secure) that would leave only two other probables? I have read acticles of broken tracta joints on Stollies and assume that these are similar, albeit on a larger scale to a ferrets? Thanks to everyone from all over the world for taking time out to put finger to key :). Cheers Jim
  7. Hi, I'm keen to understand how these wheel stations work and read that they are removeable as a unit from their respective bevel box. I assume that a shaft with spines locates into its bevel box, is this shaft called the 'inner tracta shaft'? I figure that it is this shaft which slides out when the wheel station is withdrawn? If this is the case, is it an awkward job to line this shaft up when re-fitting wheel station to bevel box? Thanks Jim

  10. Hi Gordon, Is the 88 the rectangular box seen on the floor?
  11. Thank you Starfire and Gordon, Really good of you to educate me . Gordon, thats a great site you listed, I can now find out which radio it is and report back. I know the radio powers up(2 red lights glow and it hums!). Is it legal to use these radios?, not that they would be anyone to talk to I assume! Cheers Jim.
  12. Hi Gordon, Here goes!! p.s Are the boxes on the top of the radio the ANR ones? Cheers Jim

  14. I've just acquired a ferret along with a load of headphones, mouthphones, helmets etc and a big radio, (which Ithink is a larkspur) but no idea of how to rig it all up. Guess its gonna be the kids walkie talkie
  15. Hi, Since I'm not legal yet to go on the road I have been wondering what the engine braking,(or lack of) you get from a ferret. I Ask only because I know with other torque converter set ups that engine braking is poor....and I live in a hilly area Cheers Jim
  16. Thank you Sirhc for that. I've enquired and its on the south coast so not economic for me but sounds ok especially if your not too far away. Jim
  17. Thanks STIG and ferretfixer. Looking more for the mechanical things like wheel stations, bevel boxes, gearbox, speedo cable, engine temp sender. I'm lucky to have plenty of dry storage so keen to buy stuff on spec. Cheers Jim
  18. I think that socket is for the wiper plug. Jim
  19. Hi, I'm on the look out for any spares at all for the ferret and for the b series engines. Would be interested in any complete vehicles suitable for spares in any condition. Located in Yorkshire, England. Cheers Jim
