  4. Had a look today at the speedo of ferret 06 EB 71 and found the mileage was 17,000 odd. I think this has all been accrued whilst in-service. judged my its condition and also that its never been registered. This sounds like big mileage to me but what do the ferret experts think ? Cheers

  7. Thank you Clive, I have kind of been waiting for you . Previous research had you coming up! Your bins look great, do you have any suggestions as to were I can find the ISPL. With regard to the Bovington Ferret, forgive my ignorance but what differences does the hull have, the only difference I was aware of was the turret. Thanks again. Jim
  8. Its got the scars on the turret where the welded on mounts for the missile launches were burned off. Has anyone tried making mock up launchers? or, would someone have a set ?
  9. Hi, I've recently found the ferret mentioned in the title. Its hull number matches the numbers on its data plate and it has the correct turret which I believe confirms it was originally a mk 2/6. I was wondering if anyone can throw any more light on the machine? I am in the process of restoring it and would welcome opinions on if it should be brought back as a 2/7 or, if possible 2/6 guise!! Thanks Jim
  10. Hi, I need to remove the piston pins (guedon pin) from the piston/conrods. While I'm awaiting the manual coming does anyone know, its not the usual circlips!! Thanks jim.
  11. Thanks to all helpers, hopefully I should soon have a manual . Jim
  12. Hi All, I'm after a manual for a B series engine out of a ferret and wondered if anyone might want to sell theirs?. I need to know many things in detail, like how to remove those exhaust valves!!!, big end torque figures etc etc. The emers do not appear to go into details like this or am I missing something. Thanks Jim
  13. Hi, Its a long shot but wondered if anyone might know of transport from Norfolk to N. Yorks for a Ferret scout car. Thanks all, Jim
  14. Thank you RAFMT for taking the time to investigate. I have googled many images of the vampire and the landing gear does look very similar indeed, however the '3 spoke' wheel is absent, not that that's important. Which are the other possibilities? Thanks again
  15. ok chaps, on tyre in white lettering about 2" high are the letters MYP?VM??. Embossed on tyre 1/3" high is 27A 2087 and FC(R17( - N On top of main leg is PC 7, on other side of leg, on a small plate are the small digits 400016 21 H 0798. Clearly fairly old since the alloy wheel casting has actually corroded through in places, not easy to see on pics, but it has been in a field until now? Cheeers
  16. Hi, thanks for the prompt, I had looked and there are numerus serial numbers, all randem, many hard to make out. The main post has a fairly clear one, I shall get that and the numbers off the tyre and report back!
  17. Hi, the story goes this 'fell off' a plane during the 1940's. Can anyone identify what it might have belonged to? The tyre is a Dunlop, size is 26x7.75x13. Thanks. Jim
  18. interesting post this if they don't have W/D or the big arrow (crows foot) I assume they were NOT British forces ordered?? Cheers Jim
  19. Now then chaps, giving the No. 2 cooker a service and it appears the seal in the NRV has gone as the pump cylinder is full of petrol which leaks out = a bit risky!! Question is, how is the NRV removed from the end of the pump cylinder? All help much appreciated. Cheers Jim
