Hi

Does anyone have information (or have done same) on converting a 6v Chevy CMP (wrecker) to 12v - what are the pitfalls, apart from obvious coil, starter, battery and generator etc. Is it do-able or best avoided?

Regards

Gary

Easyest way is to but a WW2 Bedford Dynamo on , Fits in Original bracket , 6V starter motor can stay , and put the same delco remy regulator model in 12 V in . Change bulbs , and put resistor in front of Fuel gauge , and ready.

Make sure you have a True 12 volt coil. Dynamo should be O.K. test to see if it is puting out 13 plus volts. My Jeeps have all been converted to 12 volt and in every case the original dynamo works fine. The original starter will be capeable of taking a 12 volt shunt. John
