reo24
Hi, I am trying to find out as much as I can about the CCKW bolster truck. I always thought that it was a post war French conversion when we used to see them in yards in the 80's, but I have been sent photos of them in the States in 1950 going to Korea. Also I have found photos of a restored example complete with aluminium boats "from Europe". Not conclusive, though. I think they were wartime. Can anybody confirm this with pictures? A grateful man. Joris
There is a Bolster truck in Overloon but I do not have a picture of it. There also was a Bolster on Bolero 2007.
chevpol
there was one at a Kemble rally a few years ago Mark
reo24
These are great, but they don't prove the years they were in service or with whom. I cannot find any wartime documents or photos, & also cannot find any units who had them during the war, so these could still be a post war French conversion. Unless someone knows different? Tony B
:red: I thought a 'Bolster' was a tool for knocking down walls!

Reo have a look here and around Bill's site http://cckw.org/cckw_database.htm as it is a good question. And please tell us more about yourself in the introduction section Many thanks. Runflat
Get hold of Wheels & Tracks magazine #71. You'll find a full write-up and plenty of pictures of these trucks. They came into use in late 1944 when the US army introduced its M4 floating bridge system...

Snapper
There was one on Bolero, run by Richard the chap who owns Debach aerodrome. They are proper WW2 period motors, who I doubt if he'd be interesting (at an educated guess). MB
