Greetings Comrades!

Hello folks! I own a Soviet UAZ-469 jeep, and have had great fun showing it during the 2008 season. Jeremy Clarkson is reputed to have stated that the Uaz is the worst vehicle that he had ever driven, but then he wasn't thrashing around off-road, chasing (or being chased by) the Mujahideen, was he!

It was very noticeable to me that although there was often a good representation of Russian and Warsaw Pact vehicles at many of the shows, they were scattered about the showground, and I feel that it would be most beneficial, and even greater fun, if we could arrange for all interested parties to share an enclave at each show: What an impact that would make!

With this in mind, we have formed a group, called the Ninth Company (after that very tasty Russian film of the same name), for the purpose of planning and organising the grouping together of our individual Russian and Warsaw Pact vehicles at shows from 2009 and onwards. No fees, no rules, just mutually beneficial co-operation. One of our strengths is that apart from vehicle owners, (and their families), we also have a number of re-enactors and others, for example radio specialists, which adds so much to the experience, and the impact of our camp.

I would like to invite anyone who owns a Russian or Warsaw Pact vehicle, or simply just has a passion for things Warpac, and who might be interested in combining resources, so to speak, during 2009 show season, to contact me at digbysmith@msn.com so that we can include you, and your shows in our plans.

Long live the revolution!

Hi there - I'm not aware of many 452's in the UK - as you probably know the running gear is shared with the 469 'jeep' of which there are a few - if you need any advice have a look at our russian truck forum at http://www.zil131.com where there is a section dedicated to the Uaz.

I like your idea of getting more Russian trucks to meets but the biggest problem I find with owners is the cost of transport. Copy me in on any meetings you plan for 2009 and I'll see what I can organise.

Welcome Digby,

Nice to have something different around the MT park. Always interested to see a bit of Warsaw Pact stuff - we have a growing collection of it on the forum - some of it very exotic. So you are in the right place for supporters.

This is the mad house, but it is mostly the Friendly Forum. It's a win-win situation all round.

Tony "Red" Banner - important info for you - there are no Custard Creams in Russia. Hobnobs all round - made in 1920 from shredded imperial passports. Yummy dunked in a cup of steaming hot pi...

Guessing this would allow OP. forces events to be planned  at the Clubhouse now . Will that mean splitting the clubhouse into two area's or perhaps only the off road course so to allow photography of seperate vehicle groups ? otherwise it might confuse  non-club members seeing such a mixing of nationalities:coffee:

Hello Rob! It's true what my wife tells me - men can't do two things at once! I was actually on the phone negotiating (in vain) for a 452 whilst entering my piece on the forum regarding the 469 that I do own. The result - a massive typo (that's posh talk for cock-up). Regards our Soviet show get togethers, our aim is to arrange get people together at shows who were intending to go to anyway rather than try and talk them into the expense of extra trips. A bit of pre-planning can go a long way, since the most obvious pre-requisite is the early reserving of an appropriate area of real estate. I'll keep you updated on which shows appear likely prospects - if you or any of your comrades are also going to any of them we would be honoured for you to join us, and would make sure we saved the space for you.

All the best Digby

Ah! So you've heard of the militant London buses then? :-D There were a number of Urals at Coulsdon at one time including a missile transport and some GAZ at Pottern island. The PI ones all disapperead following contretemps betwen the leaser and MOD. Does anyone know what happned to them? I nearly lost a load of kit over that.
