chevpol
BLUE Sounds good ,,, but em when out with the saladin may look a little strange and also how do i stand with the police?? with police on it and in blue?? you cant run a vehicle on the public roads with police on it, while most officers would just see a old vehicle, it would only take one jobsworth to haul you up for impersonating a police officer!!! I used to own a ex South Wales police granada traffic car, once, when it was outside the local garage, a couple of police saw it, and were admiring it, then another one turned up, was heard to say that I shouldnt have the light bar on it, (covered up) shouldnt have the vascar unit (head only, no innards), and he then phoned somebody, next thing we knew, he was disappearing down the road and the other 2 just looked at each other and grinned. you see, the car was white with a red stripe, thats all, no police markings anywhere, we think he was told in no uncetain terms to leave alone as not done anything wrong!! Mind you, good job he couldnt get in boot, because there was a box of different police door badges, a speed gun (non working!!) and a couple of uniforms!!!:cool2: Anyway, it would look nice as a police vehicle, maybe you can get the police sign (I assume it would also be in chinese lettering?) as a magnetic sign? Good luck Mark Edited September 8, 2008 by chevpol added text

Tony B
Couple of bits of magnetic card over the words when on road. What can't be seen can't be argued over.
antar
From what I remember Roy Elvis (Champspares) was very involved with the import of all the Hong Kong Saracens around 20 years ago, hence the ones stored around the Litchfield area, give him a call and Iam sure he will be helpfull. Alan NG
From the "II" on the photo, it is the 11th of the Police Saracen, and I believed there were at least 14 of them starting from "1" as AM 6975 to "14" as AM 6988". Not sure where I get this photo from, but feel appropriate to share it here. If any rightful owner of this pics and do not like it to be posted here, let me know and I will delete it. Alan NG
Hi Phill, I am trying to track down all the Saracen used by the former Royal Hong Kong Police, and if yours is "11" and what is the one on this post? Do you mind posting a photo for share? As far as my research goes, the first three probably has the small 3 door turret, as it is evident for the one still on display in the Police Unit as Gate Guard, and I am sure from the forth one is with bigger 2 door turret, still missing photo evident on the 5th and the 9th though. Anyone can help?? One more question, still cannot quite figure out how the roof window works with the splinterproof glass and a sliding fit in the roof housing (that is what the description on the user handbook). Does it over fit over the first half and could be slide to the rear when open and how it operates? Thanks for any help and any reference is much appreciated. spacehopper
People on here may know of it but I know of a HK police Saracen in County Durham.
Alan NG
Dear All, After the publication of the POST magazine about the Saracen from Phill Burgess and John Collins, owners of two of the former Police Saracen Armoured Car in UK. I was fortunate enough to make contact with the first OC of the unit, who confirmed there were a total of 15 and not 14 as originally thought. They are number from 1 to 15 and the vehicle registration number is AM 6975 to AM 6989. They were also former British Army Vehicle before serving in the Royal Hong Kong Police. No British Vehicle Number is confirmed yet! The first three are Mk 1 with smaller, three doors turret, and the rest are Mk 2 / 3 as I am still trying to figure out. They have RFC but all had the 'Air Duct' behind the engine access covers, and the 'Air outlet duct' on both side of the vehicle at the rear fitted. Can somebody enlighten me on this as same things seen on those British vehicle in HK, so they are Mk 2 fitted with RFC or Mk 3, and also the uparmoued version as well, they are Mk 5 fitted with RFC or Mk 6?? Thanks!
