Joris Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Currently I'm reading the After the Battle book "Airfields of the EIGHT". With the aid of Goolge Maps I checked what the airfields looked like now. Because I'm a bit bored and because I can I started with a custom map with marks the location of the Airfields of the 8th. As you can see I've not read the book beyond the "D" airfields so it's far, far from complete. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=k&msa=0&msid=104095793639998367949.00045246e05bab5c0edc1&ll=52.395715,0.032959&spn=5.276847,10.942383&z=7 We can make this a HMVF group effort and add as much information to the map as we can. We can add pictures too. Let me know what you think! Quote
Rick W Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Nice idea Joris. So you want people to send you photos of the airfields as they are now, so you can post on google? Quote
Joris Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Yeah or I can give people access to the "google map" and they can post themselves. Quote
Rick W Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Yes, but its all in Dutch my end, so knowing how to do it this end may be tricky. Quote
Joris Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 hmm I'll look into it, should be in English too! Quote
Jessie The Jeep Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Feel free to use any of my pictures on the Airfields of the 8th and 9th thread...... http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?t=7276 Steve Quote
Joris Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Thanks Steve, I'll look into how to use them. I've updated my first post with the correct link to the English map: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=k&msa=0&msid=104095793639998367949.00045246e05bab5c0edc1&ll=52.395715,0.032959&spn=5.276847,10.942383&z=7 Quote
