Tony B Posted October 15, 2007 Share Posted October 15, 2007 These are the armoured observation cupolas above the underground command post at Battery Lothrigen. They are sited on the Noirmont headland overlooking St Helier and St Aubin's bay. To the left of the photo is the site of a 6 m Zeiss range finder. Below are 4 floors. It controlled four guns in open emplacements plus storage bunkers. the site is owned by the States of Jersey as a memorial to Islander's who died during the Occupation. We flew by BEA from London Airport on a Vickers Viscount and come back on another BEA type - can't remember. Glorious times for an eleven year old kid escaping London for a while.
