Steve Shirley, who runs the Museum of RAF Firefighting, appealed for help after the lease on the warehouse where the collection of 52 antique fire engines is currently housed at in Scunthorpe was due to come to an end.

Following Mr Shirley's appearance on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Richard Walsh, the managing director of Thurlby Motors, came forward to offer the collection a new home at Alford.

Mr Shirley said: "We're very very grateful indeed and we'd love to explore the possibility."

The collection had been housed at RAF Scampton until 2017 when it had to move as space was needed to organise an airshow.
