The answer is Yes ! I did one for a customer about 18 months ago and he is pleased with its performance. It is a British Lockheed, slightly shorter, small amount of pipe alteration, nothing serious, from memory, the bracket at the front end fitted straight on and a simple support bracket was made for the tail end. It is a much simpler unit than the oversized thing that is originally fitted. The important bit......it is the servo fitted to certain models of Ferret scout cars. shopnut Posted November 21, 2005 Author Share Posted November 21, 2005 Thanks Richard, in fact I did see a servo on a stall at Beltring this year, it looked like it might fit a CCKW, the dealer said it was for a Ferret, I think this is the way to go. Rex Posted February 11, 2006 Share Posted February 11, 2006 You have to be carefull when fitting a non GMC servo as it may well not have the fulid displacemant that is nessary to put on six wheel cylinders. TooTallMike Posted December 2, 2014 Share Posted December 2, 2014 I fitted one to a Halftrack that I was told by the customer had been from a CVRW Fox. I have a feeling it may have been from a Ferret, but either way it stopped much better than stock. I also fitted one from a 1970s Dennis fire engine to my old CCKW and you could lock all six wheels on a dry road. Had to have the brakes set up perfectly though! - MG My old CCKW used to lock all 6 wheels on a dry road with a completely original set up. shopnut Posted December 12, 2014 Author Share Posted December 12, 2014 It was a long while ago now since I posted this, I did look one year at W & P Show, a brake servo which I think was for a Ferret, it was on a dealers stand, NOS, and thought that could fit a CCKW, but after taking advice, was told it probaly would not suitable, although since then I did wonder if this was correct, has anyone out there fitted a Ferret servo to a CCKW?, or even tried and found for whatever reasons it was a no go? Has anyone out there found a modern replacement for the CCKW brake servo?, the originals and kits to repair them seem more and more difficult to find.
