robin craig
Your vehicle spent a period of time at the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) out here in Canada, see the line "ORD COY BATUS". I would suggest a check of some of the BATUS video on Youtube to see if it shows up or you could go over to the dark side of Facebook (FB) where this BATUS Memories group exists https://www.facebook.com/groups/529126870919310/ and ask around or look. There is another FB group called BAOR Photos https://www.facebook.com/groups/166806773522220/ This forum has quite a number of pictures posted if you use the search function carefully Good luck and please share with us what you find.

Thanks for the links Robin. I'm in the BATUS group ... by which seems more interesting, (BAOR photos) I have not managed to be accepted despite trying several times ... In December 1977, 15th/19th The King's Royal Hussars had just deployed to Paderborn with 3 Armd Div (activated 1 January 1978 ) as divisional recce regiment. Barry and I were in B Squadron together, but I was immediately posted to Command Troop. Barry was posted to Command Troop a couple of years later. There was a lot of vehicle churn between October and December 78. We took over Alanbrooke Barracks from an infantry battalion and needed a full set of vehicles. Not all were correct. Command Troop collected Saracens and Ferrets from Moenchengladbach, but were given ACPRA instead of ACV. Did one exercise, then took them back to exchange them for ACVs. But to have a Scorpion for just five days takes some beating.

There's an entry for a conversion in 1981. It's only a gut instinct, but my guess from the date is the radio harness was changed from Larkspur to Clansman. Somebody with better knowledge will correct me. Edited July 30, 2022 by AlienFTM
