martylee Posted July 23, 2007 Share Posted July 23, 2007 Operation torch... which means we're saving the the great "overlord" for our next mission. We went camping a couple of weeks ago. Since the kid has grown fond of MVs and military related things, I guess it's no big suprise that we ended up doing our trip not excately in the traditional manner. As our destination we chose a small island in the nearby lake. On this island there used to be a fortress built around 1100, but only bricks remain there this day. Then we had our target, the objective was to hold the island for 24 hours before withdrawing. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/0412-03185.jpg[/img] As we all great military missions this had to be planned and prepared for. There was a lot of stuff we needed to get. We also had to see what the area looked like.And this is why I'm posting this thread. We spent a day two months ago in the area around the island just me and the kid. We were building a camp to have our meal in when we heard this roar behind us. Of course the official story is that when we go on a trip we use all available equipment. Even the airforce!!! :-D :-D :-D Of course this was a very big moment for the kid (and me). Needless to say the further planning went well and two weeks ago we went to the island.
