lynx42 Rick Cove
Data plate for £25 pounder £20 plus postage. Was that 25pdr. manufactured by G & J Weir? My 25pdr. is number 288 from them but the plate says G & J Weir not G & J W. Number 12510. The Australian War Memorial has G & J Weir Number 504. Regards Rick. I read somewhere that part way through the war they changed the way manufacturers' names should be written on data plates on all equipment so that the enemy did not effectively have an address to bomb. In which case a change to G & J W sounds reasonable. trevor
