Just noticed this museum on the weekend. Unfortunately it was shut so my photos through the fence are p poor but I'll drop in on my next trip. I see a Valentine, Sexton, Stuart, M113, another armored car I couldn't get a shot of. 20160522_150052_resized.jpg

This yellow anti tank carrier, would it be a Lloyd? Also I am guessing it gets driven backwards as opposed to normal and the engine is under the barrel?

I wonder if some of this was from the other wheatbelt town

The carrier is an Aussie built LP 2pdr Attack carrier. It's driven in the normal manner as with any LP Carrier. They moved the engine to beside the driver to make room for the 2pdr. The gearchange is a bit different, being behind your left shoulder, meaning you had to reach across your self with your right arm and change gears above your shoulder.

Cheers,

Alex

What is the turret on the M113. |didn't the Australians put old Saladin turrets on M113's?

Only the fire support ones....also had Scorpion or Fox turrets. Adrian will know which ones.

I never saw a Salladin turreted one as before my time, only seen those in photos.
