Jack
One of the best sites on the net - Shaun work is wonderful. Have a look at his latest update, there was a documentary on TV last year about the UK's arms race and this site was featured as being one of the key R&D sites.......never knew it even existed. http://worldwar2airfields.fotopic.net/c1285935.html

It's amazing what you can rig up in these internet times. But I could be wrong.
Richard Farrant
Unless I am VERY MUCH MISTAKEN the first time an article talking about this site ever appeared was on Meridian TV on 1st April, aka April Fool's Day. It's amazing what you can rig up in these internet times. But I could be wrong. And you could be wrong  It was a site used to test the rocket motors of Blue Streak, Black Knight, etc. Saunders Roe who were based on the island were involved with these projects. fv1609
Fascinating stuff, the Cuckoo motor was not that dissimilar from Woodpecker that powered Orange William. (OW is the avatar on the left & FV1620 was originally designed to fire OW rather than Malkara)
