He was 1st Bat Gloucestershire Regiment. He recalls while stationed at the Yalu River they were quickly evacuation on what he believed were Centurian Tanks. I have been looking all over and cant find any reference to what Armoured Regiment would have done this. DOes anyone happen to know (or know someone who would know) who these tanks would have belonged to? Also was the 7th RTR ever alongside the Glosters in Korea? Hope someone can help Martyn Martyn, why not try the Gloster regiment museum in Gloucester, it has recently been refurbished, and as the Glosters fought valiantly in Korea they have a lot of information there. I do need to contact the Gloucestershire regiment museum but felt something related to other regiments may well have a better response here. The website for the museum (as well as most other sources) only seem to vaguely cover the period before Imjin and then focus on that. Will give that Max Hastings book a go I think. Will have to read through Robert O Holles book again aswel as Farrar Hockley's book. Its finding a decent book that isn't either just about Imjin or the US. As far as I have found so far, 7th RTR had little involvement with the Glosters directly and had Churchill Tanks so unlikely it was them Thanks again. This was the "Battle of the Imijin River 23rd April 1951" He was actually in Japan wounded during Imjin River battle (probably saved his life). I am just trying to piece together what happened before then. Also last October at the Den Bosch commemorations we transported Captain C.J. Boardman who wrote a anthology called Tracks in Korea. Just glancing through it now and he mentiones the Glosters. Written by Russell Spurr It says when the Glosters were surrounded Belgians, Fillipino's and the 8th King's Royal Hussars were unable to relieve them. Then it says; "The brigade was finally relieved on 26th April, 6 days after taking up position". (Must be the Imjin battle) So no mention of a specific unit who did relieve them. Extra info. Just found the 8th Kings Royal Irish Guards used brand new centurions which they ran in in Korea itself. I quote; "They were to play a major role in the actions to resque the isolated Gloucesters in the April 1951 battle". There are photo's of 8RIH Centurions evacuating Northhumberland Fusiliers.
