thedawnpatrol
Whilst stripping my Morris PU, I found that the CAV VCB is a Type 75c - 19x and is larger than the standard WW2 type we normally see, ( Type 75b - 19x) ? can anyone tell me why this other type may have been fitted in my PU, its been there for a long time, if not for ever ? I do know my truck was a wireless version, so could it be to do with that ? is there a list anywhere ot website dedicated to C.A.V ? here's a few photos, and for those of us interested in original paint samples, a very nice sample of Khaki Green No3 behind the CAV unit on the mounting bracket. cheers Jules

Richard Farrant
Hi Jules, As far as I am aware the 75c is basically the same as the 75b, except that it has radio suppression in addition. regards, Richard
thedawnpatrol
Thanks Richard that's just the answer I was hoping for................and means as I thought, it has always been fitted. just hope the thing still works ! cheers Jules
Lauren Child
Is the radio suppression using capacitors? If so they may be worth checking at their age, in case they've failed and start to short circuit (and it's a lot easier to do now instead of on the side of the road)
thedawnpatrol
Don't know how I can test them on the bench? Any help please"........... Jules
Ivor Ramsden
According to the handbook all the later model PUs were fitted with the 75c-19x control box. Early ones had the 75b-19x.
fv1609
If you were nearer Jules I could test them with a Megger at their rated voltage & confirm their properties with a capacitance meter. But if you are worried about them, just disconnect them if they were added for RF suppression, the regulator will still function without them. thedawnpatrol
Thanks for the offer and advice Clive. Your right, i'll just cut the wires............ Having said that, I don't think I'll be wiring it before next summer, so might find myself in your part of the world I'm sure...
