Bob Grundy
I have recently acquired the lower hull of a 1944 Windsor Carrier. The following can be seen (just) on the front in yellow. C.I.L.A.V.D Class 1 R/NRDY 10 3 55. The latter is of course a date. Does anyone know what it all means ?
fv1609
Vehicle Depot markings Bob. Class refers to Reliability Class. These markings should be obliterated on issue to a Unit. Owners often reproduce these markings along with the Unit markings, but a combination of the two types is incompatible
wally dugan
BOB l agree with what clive says but would like to add that C I L AVD may refer to CHILWELL ARMOURED SUB DEPOT which was at chilwell in the 50s
fv1609
Class 1 reliability means it is still in the first 60% of its planned life R is the receipt date NRDY is a mystery I can find no RAOC meaning for this in any lists or glossaries in the RAOC storage generally or in vehicle depot manuals. Must be some improvised abbreviation, something like No Repair Due Yet?
