The was a general instruction for B vehicles in BAOR & specific vehicles in the UK. This was in EMER WHEELED VEHICLES A 017 Mod Instr No.8 Sept 1978. So I don't know whether your Ferret would have been one of those specific vehicles but that seems to have been the likely time for the mod.
