Charawacky Posted May 2, 2013 Share Posted May 2, 2013 This lithograph depicts a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Corps (WAAC) attached to the Royal Flying Corps, as indicated by the RFC cap badge and shoulder titles.Women began to be enlisted in the WAAC in 1916, and by 1917 the Royal Flying Corp had all-female companies, who lived at home and worked in their nearest RFC Unit. The use of motorcycles by the armed forces began to come into use during the First World War . One of the more exciting job categories open to women during the war was working as dispatch riders, often making journeys at night, on poor roads and using only acetylene lighting.
