Hi All

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm diesel (long running nickname).

I have always been interested in classic vehicles with a keen interest in land rovers. I don't know much about milatary vehicles yet but am hoping to learn more about them, hense joining this site.

I work as a hgv driver so have a interest in all larger vehicles as well as land rovers. I am looking at the possiblity of a new project as an overlander, possibly a land rover 101 (as i know land rovers) or maybe something a bit different (any suggestions would be greatfully receved!)

Have a good One.

Diesel.

Thank you for the welcome.

I dont mind the petrols so much, i have striped and rebuilt a few V8s in my time and know that a lpg can be run on most gasses (i.e callor). I have looked at the dafs before (i actually drive a modern daf for work and love it) but would need to find out more about them. Are the old dafs good to drive? i have driven some classic wagons that were like trying to steer a plate of jelly and not so much fun as scarey!

I will definatly look around the forum for more information and thank you for the suggestions!

All wartime vehicles are basically 1930s technology, so they are never going to be like modern vehicles, but then thats part of the fun, being competent, crash boxes, in some cases relatively poor braking, and heavy or sloppy steering.... not all vehicles have all of these deficiency........... but I love it, I was weened on these motors when they were new.

Thanks for all the welcomes, and advice too.

There is so much information on here don't know how long it will take to get though it. The dafs and bedfords look good and people seam to reave about them. But there is alot to learn about them, am a little worried about some saying a tacho will need fitting. Hopefully more reading will clear this up though!

Have a good one.
