Just found these shots showing POW's at some kind of refreshment stop after a train journey.

Interesting, a little difficult to see clearly but I think the 3 ton 6x4 may be an AEC, pictures of these trucks in service are not common.

I have just had a search on the net and yes i see the truck is a Marshall AEC 644

Great to see a fleet of Hydra Burners in use!! :D

Those burners, those dixies, and also the hayboxes which are not shown, were still in use with the British Army into the 1960s! I used to bamboozle people by asking what the loops on the hayboxes were for; the answer was to attach them to a pack saddle on a mule!

60s They still had them in our Q stores when I left in the 90s:wow:
