Guest JeepJockey
Hi Guys can any of you help. I have a metal Ammo box measuring approx 19"x 8"x 8" with two metal side handles. It's embosed P59 MK2 G & M.L. 1945 on the top. What would have been in it and is it British or American? Ta Paul
woa2
Sounds like a 2 inch morter ammo box, but it is definitley British. Not sure who G & M.L. were, as these boxes were made by hundreds of small manufacturers, like Jerry can production. These boxes were frequently used as tool boxes both in the Army and Civilians after the war, and sometimes had a modification for a padlock. ackack
Box P59 MkII was used to carry 4 Quick Fire High Explosive shells, for the 25 pdr and is definately BRITISH. Your wartime box is worth much more than a post-war one !
Guest JeepJockey
YEAH, Really how much is it worth, can I retire and should I continue using it as my lunch box. Yes okay I now I've got a big lunch box. Regards, Paul
