It's a Mack NJU 5-6ton 4x4 forerunner to the Autocar U-8144T which superceded it in 1941 and was an uprated version of the U-7144T 4 tonner. Sorry to contradict you Tony but the civi cabbed Mack is quite distinctive.

Like you I think 'foreign', I've seen pics of German trucks towing that from memory resembled that type which I assume to be a 4 wheeler turntable type. Although I remember trailers of this type on British roads in the late forties/ fifties they have always seemed to be much more common on the continent.

Regarding the compressor truck - whats in front of it then - yet another foreign one maybe?

 

I thought I could see tracks as per a Maultier!!!

 

I can see a wheel on the left rear, no sign of a track. What are the opinions on the marking on the cab door, doesn't look like an Allied Star to me. Body looks like a type fitted to British swb tippers although the troops are American.
