robin craig
First of all, not connected or related etc etc http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ferret-scout-car-fire-extinguisher-mounting-brackets-/150733256978?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Other_Vehicle_Parts_Accessories_ET&hash=item231866f912#ht_500wt_1198 I have not seen these mounts before. Can anyone expand on when they were used and why are they not commonly seen etc. I really thought I knew most of the variations but obviously I don't. 0 griff66
mines a 64 ferret and dont know where these would fit seller is saying inside engine bay ? not sure about that and why would u have em fitted inside engine compartment? just realised i know the seller will ask him
0 john fox
can't check 00DA57 at the moment to confirm those pictured are "correct" however that vehcile has these fitted as part of the mine countermeasures upgrades (eg the extra plates mounted around the drivers footwell) mounts were bolted to the engine bay floor to allow 2 standard extinguishers to be postioned so that in the event of a mine detonation then (notwithstanding the fixed fire extinguisher system) the blast would (in theory) rupture the extinguishers and therefore add extra goodness to the fire extinguishing arrangements IMHO without doing the rest of the (more visible) mine countermeasures upgrades, then simply fitting these 2 brackets in the engine bay would be (historically) pointless
0 ferrettkitt
You need to have the correct mounting lugs in the engine compartment to fit those two extinguisher brackets / mounts. If you have those lugs in you're Ferret worth buying
0 griff66
Good photo andy would those lugs have been welded on at a base overhaul i guess made me check my 63 mk1/2 no lugs fitted dont know if i would want to drive around with 2 px vessels that close to HOT side of engine though ! 0 ferrettkitt
I wouldn't want extinguishers in that spot either

0 barrynevuk
I had these in my ferret, when I had it years ago. I am wondering if they were maybe origonal fitment when new? My ferret 08BB76 was a mk 2/4 and never had the co2 gas fire extinguisher system installed, or no sign of it either.
0 griff66
prob done at base overhaul?, u might also notice not all bolts fitted where suspension unit bolts to hull this was designed in event of mine going off wheel station would blast off easier ! that was the theory anyway.
