Recommended Posts

Guys, a small announcement.

A new regional area has been established, the Huntingdon & District Area of the Military Vehicle Trust. Initially covering approximately a 25 mile radius from Huntingdon this will encompass the cities of Peterborough (to the north) and Cambridge (to the SE).

Details of the inaugural meeting have yet to be finalised, but initial thinking is to hold it on the evening of either the first or second Thursday in Jan 2012 in Huntingdon (venue TBA) . Formal letters of invitation will be sent out to all members in the locale in the next week or so.

Kind regards to all

Does this mean we'll be meeting with the Huntingdon Wargamers? http://www.hdws.org.uk/

Lauren

The Montague club is quite a large place with four separate rooms downstairs. One is taken by the bar, another is a pool room, and the remaining two are function rooms. The wargamers occupy the largest one, we will take the smaller one, which can take about 30 people.

Good luck with the new area from all in the North Staffs Area.

Thanks Ray. 56 letters of invitation were sent out. It will be interesting to see how many responses I get. Hopefully it will be enough for a viable Area.

A quick reminder that this is today. So who else is coming?

Lauren

Things are looking good for our first meeting tonight. Spoke to the Montague Club a couple of days back to check everything was still fine with them (which it was). If everyone turns up who said they will, we should have about 20 people there tonight :)

Kind regards

Ian

Hi guys

I've long since felt that their is a huge void West of us and East of East Midlands area, so best of luck and any help Suffolk Area can give, then don't hesitate to ask!

All the best

Clive - Former Suffolk Area Secretary and now holding the Area purse strings!

Yes this was a good first meeting :). Including myself there were 26 attendees with (as you would expect) a broad ownership spectrum ranging from not owning any vehicle, up to having about 8. For the moment we are going to continue meeting in the Montague Club in Huntingdon, every 2nd Thursday of the month at 20:00. We worked our way through the sample MVT Area constitution, appointed a Deputy Area Sec, agreed to use a Yahoo Group to disseminate info (and files) and amongst other things agreed to try and have a 'Spring Run' sometime in the Easter break. All went well, already looking forward to next months meeting :)
